Tony DeAngelo Moves On

I wonder where he lands. I’d have said Philly might be intriguing, but after acquiring both Ellis and Ristolainen, I’m not so sure.

Habs. Weber is out/retired. They don't care about character issues. Tried to get Voynov. Just started Mailloux.

IF he's going to continue his career,he is going to have to grow up a great deal. If a coach asks you to keep your mouth shut, might want to consider that. This would be a new experience for Anthony. And given he's not a youngster, he might not be able. But on the other hand, watching millions get washed away like a fart in a hurricane can have some effect. He can either learn to shut his yap and make millions as an NHL defenseman or be a bum on a bar stool in Sea Isle or Wildwood with a great story.

Let me emphasize, for the last time; while NYR did not like any player being so out in the open about his political beliefs, that played no part at all. And some of the people who ADA clashed with may have even agreed with him about those things. This was far beyond that. This was about an uncoachable loudmouth who would not simply be quiet. That's a universal thing in any workplace. You don't have to love one another, but you have get along enough to work together. And that means often keeping your yap shut.

Translation: Following rumors that Tony DeAngelo would sign an agreement with the @CanadiensMTL several sources confirm to me that this is not true. He won't be playing MTL next season. @TVASports

Makes sense. Why do that when they're gonna sign Mailloux, name him to the opening night roster and give him the C? Only room for one.

Look for places that align to the right politically and that may be the only way he doesn't ostracize himself from the fanbase if he continues to be so boisterous about his views, they need to have a strong willed coach and a need for an offensive defenseman. Lots of boxes to check for this guy......is he worth it? We shall see.

Sabres? Predators? Panthers? Stars?

No, it doesnt have to be that. He would need to go to a place where your political sphere doesnt consume your total, daily existence. There are plenty of "right wing" "Conservatives" in the NHL. Canadian teams seemed to be rumored destinations because those people have lives outside of twitter. The NHL is far from a clean league, I means, its not the NFL with players that come with horrible reputations, but they arent angels, either. I'd say look at Patrick Kane, but you can look at the Black hawks now. Tons of other stories, too.

He'd need to go to a team with strong leaders - so Weber being out seems like it may actually hurt his chances more than benefit him.

Honestly, no I don’t think it sends a message when you are talking about people in that age group or at least it certainly doesn’t concretely do so. When I take multiple different criminal reports in the same school for these exact things that shows me certain age groups don’t exactly learn or grasp these things. When I see a DWI fatal accident with a 17 year old kid and later in the same year deal with other DWI situations with classmates that shows me kids don’t think that far ahead or even consider the ramifications as much as us adults do. Hell, many adults don’t even think “smarter” and they damn well should know. Cue ADA.

You want to give the kid probation, or if he is drafted be forced to complete some mandatory program working with victims, or community service before being eligible to play, or any number of rehabilitation efforts to really cement it home what he’s done and hopefully now turn him into a productive person in a better position as an athlete to help the type of people he has hurt then I’m all for it. Simply saying “no, you’re done. Adios” isn’t the best solution in my opinion.

Just my opinion.

ADA's mistakes in the past were nothing close to what these kids did. There was no fatal accident from Ada's actions. There was no physical harm ever actually. He made crude insensitive remarks as a minor and maybe damaged a penalty box door, oh and the twitter. He is so far from the worst guy in this league yet he may never play again.

I'm not sure what your point is. My comments were not about ADA.
