Leader

Faceoff guy

Playoff performer

Defensive specialist type, who can ease Zibanejad s minutes on the PK, where I don't want him playing anyway..

Not a bank buster

No long term commitment

Winner.

No he doesn't check that toughness box, but I'd say he's a realistic option that checks so many other boxes.

Obviously it kicks Chytil to a wing or to trade bait.

What Drury does with the top 6 (if anything) is really going to affect what type of free agents they should pursue. We need a faceoff man, but the ones available aren't 4th liners, which is where we would all love to slap in such an signing, so that we can keep Chytil and all the kids. Do you build a better 4th line? Or do you build a better bottom 6? Orrr a better top 6?

Some of these kids have to go though. It's scary to think how badly the Rangers might lose out on their own assets. A few have to go, but their worth is higher than the price tag of the needs. UNLESS, they move on from Zibanejad and or Strome, which I don't think they are looking to do. Maybe Strome, but he's not your best trading asset, no matter how good he's been.

Drury has his work cut out for him.

Look at what I listed. Faceoff machine. Will take over as top PK guy, is a playoff performer, veteran leadership, won't cost much and isn't long term.

He played 2 minutes of PK time this season.

Krejci might be good at winning face-offs, but it wasn't because of defensive prowess. He started 65% of his shifts in the offensive zone. He's a play driver offensively, but I reckon he would used very similarly to Strome. If we're not moving Strome, I'm not sure he's the best option for us.

This is my expectation if they got Krejci. He'd be a short term 2C, not a 3C. He would probably be an excellent mentor for a guy like Chytil.

I'm thinking he steps back a bit with his age and all.

I don't bring him in as a 2 C, but more of a dependable player who plays a 200' game, that should be dialing it back now.

Guys like this switch their game up as they get older. With his already reliable game, I think he accepts and transitions to more of a 3rd line center this coming year. Atleast for my plan anyway. LOL.
