Former Rangers captain Ryan Callahan is headed to ESPN, The Post has learned. Callahan, 36, spent eight seasons with the Rangers before playing parts of six years with the Lightning. He has done some work for NHL Network and NBC.

Callahan’s exact role is still to be determined, but will likely be a combination of studio and game assignments.

ESPN/ABC and Turner will take over NHL coverage from NBC beginning next season. Turner has hired Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk as its lead announcing team, while ABC/ESPN has brought in Ray Ferraro and Brian Boucher as top analysts. Steve Levy and Sean McDonough are the leading candidates to be ABC/ESPN’s No. 1 play-by-player.

A shame MSG did not give him a bigger role. The Valiquette pre/post show is a dumpster fire crossed with a nuclear meltdown inside a sewer. Only exceeded in awfulness by what ever the hell the 2 ladies on the Isles pre/post game are doing.
