Deja vu to late last season where the team was playing like gangbusters late. I mean, I think they will need to play better than they did last night to beat the tough competition that's coming, but they're still stringing together wins and points and that's all you can ask for right now.

I'm not down on Quinn, but next year where there will be more of a mandate to make the playoffs is where you can judge him. It can't be easy juggling veteran players and young 1 & 2 year players who you are trying to develop in game time situations. I also don't think he's making these decisions alone Gorton and JD are having a lot of impact on the lineup.

What's really sinking them are the two regulation losses when they were leading in the 3rd. 1/24 against the Penguins and 3/19 against the Capitals.

 

It sounds crazy to harp on two losses, but with the loser point in play, it's a mortal sin to not get at least one point when you go into the 3rd period with a lead. That's two points they absolutely, positively should have secured, if not more since they lost both games with under 5 minutes to play.
