Brooks breaking the news, but he seems to be very confident this is a targeted piece for voicing against Putin.
As a precautionary note here - there's almost no way this does not devolve into something approaching a political discussion, so lets please keep this respectful and thoughtful.

Absolutely shitty but not entirely surprising something like this has happened after some of his recent comments.
Out of nowhere. At least he isn't leaving Twitter though.
Too soon?
If this was a hit job, Russians wouldnt use an "18-year old girl" as the victim.
OH MAN !!!! What is going on here wtf?

Here is a translation from what I am pretty sure is a Russian media propaganda/bot site (newsy-today). I won't post a link, but this is what Googling has turned up:
Former Vityaz coach Andrei Nazarov accused the ex-striker of the Moscow Region club, and now the New York Rangers striker Artemiy Panarin, of beating an 18-year-old girl. It is reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to the specialist, the incident took place in December 2011 in Riga after the match with the local Dynamo. The player, along with several legionnaires, went to the bar. There, for unknown reasons, he struck a Latvian citizen several times. After that, the hockey player was detained by the police.
According to Nazarov, authoritative residents of Riga stood up for Panarin, who held negotiations with law enforcement officers and were able to hush up the story. The coach noted that he had heard about the amount of 40 thousand euros in cash.
The first thing I thought of when I saw this news was how he said he supported novalny (sp?) the other day

Shouldn't he have a legal team take care of this ?

This is so out of left field that it has Putin written all over it. He can’t try to poison Panarin like he keeps trying to do to his rival, so this is the next best thing. Find someone from his past and threaten their family/life to make them say what he wants.
The issue is how does Panarin respond and continue, if it really is false?
I also hope he is not planning to go back to Russia either. I fear for his life, if he does.

Okay, let's stop with the Panarin trade shit. If you want to continue, go play in the other thread.
