QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

[table=width: 630, align: center]

[tr]

[td=align: center]

“It’s a balancing act. We certainly are very alarmed at what happened last night. It was a complete shock to us as a staff. Talking to the players, they were surprised at what developed last night. But we do get to play again (Saturday). Let’s see how we respond. But certainly, really disappointed. There really wasn’t anything good that happened (Thursday) in any capacity, in any fashion in the game.”

I have a feeling this season will bring the hate for the Islanders to a new level.

They match up too good against this Rangers team, so I would think we lose most of the games against them this year.

Atleast score a goal tonight please

I understand left/right, pairings, all that.Tony D, despite the penalty, was far from the biggest problem with the defense Thursday. Nobody was particularly good. Miller may someday be a great defenseman, but he mostly looked tentative and shaky. Jack Johnson is in fact demonstrably awful; another in a long line old defensemen trying to bleed out another year of NHL salary before retirement whom the Rangers have been inexplicably signing forever. Benching Tony D is really stupid. Quinn made his point. This is going too far.

Agreed. The extra penalty was selfish, and maybe shouldn't have even penalty but I was ok with the refs tagging him for it. It also happened down 4 zip in the 3rd. Trying to pick a scapegoat for that game is shitty coaching IMO, and unaffordable to act like a tough guy coach in a shortened season unless there is a really good reason. This ain't it.

How many penalties did Quinn take last 2 seasons including horrible challenges?

I have no issue benching guys, but we know the discipline is random and inconsistent with the message. That's always been the issue with Quinn.

Quinn is going to do his Scout Leader thing, hopefully Tony can get his Good Behavior badge back, and maybe in the meantime, Quinn can figure out NHL hockey.

I don't have a big issue with the way he treats players.

I do have an issue that the team, 3 years in, has no identity.

Neither do I, but he's not here to mold men, he's here to win hockey games. If he wants to mold men, then he should have stayed where he was. This is the get it done league.

I will say this. If he was at the end of his leash with ADA on opening day then maybe they should have traded him this offseason because it’s super quick. Also, ADA was bad, but who wasn’t? He didn’t take a back breaking play. He wasn’t even the worst D out there. JJ, Trouba, Miller all were horrible too.

Exactly. Just trade the guy, swap him for something responsible, and boring to take his place.

Our D looked horrendous. Millers maiden voyage looked like his first game which is not what you want to say. Definitely had some jitters but that is to be expected. Tony D needs to play; he makes the team better. Without him, they will plug some hole filler in.

This is getting old. I want to win again.

That's not true, and you know it. Every team in the league is in a different situation, some are going through growing pains, and some are ready to win. This team is in the middle, the vets don't need a lot of coaching but the young players do.

He's not getting benched for being bad. He's getting benched for yet another selfish penalty.

So he’s getting benched because in 2018 he took a crappy penalty or because he’s just the guy Quinn decided was the only one that didn’t show up? Zibanejad took two penalties. He getting benched? Trouba let Lee literally score a back breaking goal and get out muscled. He getting benched? Have we never seen that all last year? Jack Johnson took a penalty like a minute and a half into his Ranger career?

You get the point. I know I said I didn’t have a problem with Quinn’s handling during the game of ADA but to bench the teams best offensive defenseman a game into thr season is just asinine. Absolutely asinine. The whole team bombed. Not ADA specifically.
