Yes I completely agree, but doesn't look like it will be as bad as last week from earlier reports.

Pars, did the storm shift west enough for higher snow totals?

The range across Long Island (more east, less west) could be substantial. Until the storm is passing off the NJ coast northeastward it’s hard to say where the cutoff will be.

Could be the Suffolk/Nassau border, could be a bit further west.

    Parsley's Weather Forecast Thread

Last storm the heaviest band fell roughly 30 miles east of where it was supposed to. It’s basically impossible to nail down gradient events like this. Plus, with it being mild some rain issues at the start are likely.

I’d say Long Island is fair game from anything from a few slushy inches to a massive storm (10”+) depending on how it plays out and where you are on the Island.

Timing does suck. Worst during the morning commute.

Yeah I was just hoping to get info so I knew whether or not to prepare for work. Usually my job cancels work the day before but because the storm underperformed last week, they are waiting to see if there’s snow on the ground when they wake up. Guess I’ll prepare for work lol.

Yeah. It’s tough. The fact it will (or should) be snowing when people wake up tomorrow may help. Really depends on how far west the heavy precipitation sets up overnight.

So, less than 1” in NYC. Up to 18” in the Hamptons.

    GRADIENT.

So, do you think we are in the clear from any more snowstorms?

It will miss you. Maybe 8" or so, if it fools us and goes west, but nothing to worry about

Sorry guys I was up in Buffalo, NY for St Patty’s weekend (and went to the Sabres/Hawks game). Haven’t looked at a thing regarding the storm threat. Wednesday would be the main show. I’ll take a look at things tomorrow.

So, two piece storm. First impacting areas mainly south of NYC. Main show for most posters here would be Wednesday into Wednesday night with part 2.

Could be a storm that drops 6”+ where the heaviest band set up Wednesday. Outside of that band lower totals would occur like the past 2 storms. Some models show the potential of over 12” as well so we’ll have to see how things set up after today’s event winds down.

how the f is it possible to get this much snow this late in march? would have thought the angle of the sun and shit like that would prevent it from a huge snowstorm.

It’s all about rate intensity. Need massive snow rates to overcome solar radiation and marginal temps.

That’s why a broad brushed heavy snowfall snow map likely won’t work out. We’ll find out
    Tomorrow.

Remember the last storm has a 15” difference between NYC and eastern LI. 100 miles can and will make a huge difference (somewhere) again.
