Ehhhh....I’m not jumping the gun. This week coming up has a chance toward weeks end but it may take another week for the full pattern shift back to snowstorm threats.

February is our snowiest month climatologically so we shall see.

This break from the cold and snow has been nice.

We need to build that big upper level ridge out west so the trough can come back into the East. That is being depicted in the long range (10-15 days from now)

Well Chizz, there is a surprise snowfall for ya on Long Island....primarily across Suffolk Co. What looked like a slushy coating to an inch turned into a plowable snow.

    Crazy and unexpected.

Threat is there Wednesday. Rain/snow line will be lurking nearby just like last Friday’s storm.

Too soon to pinpoint who gets hit hardest. Temps will be marginal, 32-35 degrees where it snow.

    Parsley's Weather Forecast Thread

Ingesting the latest computer models, away from coast this looks like a major snowstorm. Long Island, NYC and coastal counties in NJ will be riding the rain/snow line for a period of time. Snow totals are impossible to nail down in delicate set ups like this but areas that are all snow could be in the 10-18 inch range...especially where there is some good elevation (NW NJ and eastern PA).

Immediate Coastal areas could swing either way....between 3-6 sloppy inches or a much bigger hit (like 10-18”) depending on the exact track of the storm. As of now, the models have it riding the coast a little too close causing potential mixing issues. If it stays offshore an additional 50-100 miles most will get dumped on.

Looks ugly. Height of storm between 10am-6pm. Some light precip. snow or rain before the main slug of moisture.

Tough forecasts near the coast could be 3” or 13” depending subtle shifts in track.

And nothing is set in stone, probably will be some shifts in the next 12-18 hours.

Happened last Friday and my 0” snow forecast ended up bringing me 6-8”.

NYC won't close schools unless definite big hardship. Their philosophy is too many poor kids get their only meals of the day at school

There has been a couple of times the last couple of years that NYC closed schools for like 3-6 inches, and one time it was a total bust that schools were closed and we got like a dusting.
