Big rain and wind event on tap this afternoon through Monday. Quickly intensifying low pressure will move up the coast bringing two threats of damaging winds....

First later today from the southeast direction with highest impacts along the coast. Winds could gusts in excess of 50 mph and perhaps in excess of 70 mph tonight, especially near the ocean across Long Island.

As the storm passes Monday morning, strong west winds in excess of 50 mph again could rake the area.

Even if those highest wind speeds aren't met a prolonged period of 25-50 mph are on tap.

Periods of heavy rain will fall. Likely on the order of a few inches as well.

That rain yesterday was crazy. I had water in my basement from it, we were mopping most of the night.

    Welcome back winter!

    Well, atleast a preview.

Record cold the next 24-36 hours before moderation. Many spots may see their coldest temperatures ever recorded at this point in autumn. Teens and 20's after a very mild fall thus far is a kick to the nuts for sure.

Yeah, man, and I sat on one of my nuts this morning and sprained it, so now I have cold sprained nuts.

Just to think, aboot a week ago i wuz running in the park wearing a tank top and light shorts, soaking up the sun, and a few days later I'm stumbling along in my North Face gear, fleece lined running pants and a sprained left nut. Kinda like the Rangers' season so far but in reverse.

    Lol.

The flip flop in temps always sucks. Doesn't help we had one of the warmest October's in history. Looks like another very cold shot possible next weekend. Atleast tomorrow we have Rangers hockey to keep us entertained (hopefully).
