I think the likelyhood of a not entirely snow event for anyone near and east of I-95 has increased as the models have brought the storm track closer to the coast over the past 24 hours. That would result in a changeover and lower snow accumulations. Problem is, if the storm in reality ends up 50 miles east everyone gets buried.

You just can't rule out any scenario just yet.

I'll just keep stressing the razor thin margin during the height of the storm Tuesday morning. 30 miles may divide the heavy snow/sleet/heavy rain dividing lines and they may set up right over the area as depicted by this model below....

That pink stripe is the depicted battleground between all types of precipitation.

This storm is a BEAST actually.

Are the highest snow totals going to occur in the largest metropolitan areas? Not this time around it appears as snow will likely mix with or change to sleet or rain at the height of the storm, but some areas will get buried, especially away from the coast. I think some current forecasts may be too high on snow totals near the coast based on the model trends the past 12-24 hours which have advertised a warmer scenario, but we'll have to see how it all plays out.

First overnight new model just in shows the tight rope between snow/sleet/rain line hanging over millions of people in tristate area tomorrow morning. Impossible to pinpoint even just 12 hours out.

Ohhhh so close during the morning hours tomorrow between snow/sleet/rain near the coast.

Meanwhile, interior areas and higher elevations get dumped on with snow.

My kid's daycare was cancelled last night and it's glorified raining with about an inch of slush.

    Thanks Parsley

    Wild storm.

Blizzard inland. Pouring rain at the coast.

    A mess in between

It was a tough forecast. I warned everyone yesterday what a faster changeover to sleet and rain would result in. Interior areas are getting buried with snow.

Over 6" of snow and sleet at my place so far.
