Seems a bit high for a guy who still has a lot to prove here. I would rather have gone 1 year and made him earn another contract. I honestly haven’t been that impressed with him yet.

They?ve been nickle and diming this guy so this seems like a fair agreement.

So now, with the bonus cushion, they are still about $1 mil under the cap? I would guess that would allow us some flexibility at the trade deadline if necessary.

Perfectly fine deal. These two year deals are kinda great too, allowing the kids to mature. Then in two years, reassess where the team is heading.

I think he certainly can. Always seems like there?s more in the tank than what we?ve seen with this guy.

Not related, but I can't distinguish his face from Bobby Ryan's in my mind. When I think of Lemieux I see Ryan.

He's not really a proven NHLer. I think he should have been getting closer to $1m when I look at all of the UFAs signing in that range. Anyhow, he does have some potential.

Agreed, he needs to focus more on playing good hockey instead of how many people he crashes into. He has good wheels and does nicely on the forchecking.

Talent, youth, flexibility, time for kids to develop, etc. Amazing

A little much, but I like the player and the potential for his grit and skating ability to add up to a role player who can contribute more than just be a pest

Because I've been so damn busy with work I haven't been active on this board in quite some time (though I check it daily), so I don't think I've said this before, but I'm a big fan of Lemieux. I think he's putting shit together, albeit slowly, and as he adjusts to the NHL pace, the things that made him an attractive trade target and well-regarded prospect will surface.

 

This, of course, means the third line becomes a super fun Kakko-Chytil-Lafreniere combo, or some derivation thereof.
