Rep Bet: Predict the Opening Night Lineup

LindG1000

Recommended Posts

Rules:

To the best of your ability, predict the opening night lineup. 13F, 7D, 2G. Position and line don't fully matter here, but it'll likely be helpful.

Each submitted lineup will be subject to the scoring system below. Highest score wins Rep.

Lineup guesses are due before the draft starts. If the Rangers make a trade or roster move before then, you may edit, but any edits or submissions after 7PM on October 6 are expressly prohibited.

Scoring

1 point for players currently under contract (i.e. Panarin)

1 point for Alexis Lafreniere

2 points for UFA acquisitions

2 points for correctly calling a promoted prospect (i.e. Kravtsov)

3 points for trade or offer sheet acquisitions

I like the idea of Laine to help Kakko. I think he needs a countryman to adjust with. I was hoping they would sign Filppula last year for that

Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko

Panarin - Elias Lindholm - Craig Smith

Lafreniere - Chytil - Fast

Lemieux - Howden - Gauthier

Mark Giordano - Trouba

Lindgren - Fox

Reunanen - Jan Rutta

Extra D: Smith

Extra F: Hartford callup at forward as needed, say Gettinger for starters.

Shesterkin/Georgiev

Trades

To Flames: DeAngelo, Buchnevich, Hajek, Car 1st

To Rangers: Elias Lindholm, Mark Giordano

I think Flames want to shake things up. They probably don't want to trade Lindholm, but this is a good offer for them to move on from Giordano (and his cap hit), retool, and shift into a new era. Lindholm is collateral damage. Giordano has taken a step back from the Norris season he had two years ago, and he'll be 37, but for the Rangers he'd be a perfect veteran bridge guy for two years while Miller/Jones/Robertson season.

To Senators: Ryan Strome, Dal 3rd

To Rangers: CBJ 2nd, Dal 2nd

Senators have no forwards. Strome affordable for the Senators and expendable for the Rangers after acquiring Lindholm.

UFA Signings

Fast 3M x 3 years

Craig Smith 4M x 3 years : a 20 goal scoring RW who can slot up and down the lineup. I suspect a guy like Kravtsov still needs to season, and Kakko is not a guarantee to be good.

Jan Rutta 1.5M x 2 years : filler, and some competition for Lundkvist or depth in 2021.

RFA Signings

Georgiev 2M x 2 years
