Well, the first games of the "real" playoffs have been amazing. One 5OT, one 2OT and now a late 2-0 comeback finished by a SHG.

Holtby been horrible. 2-1 and 2-3 is all on him.

He has not been playing well at all. No wonder why Samsonov will take the reins, maybe next season.

Gotta say that after watching Trotz get fucked over by McClellan after winning a championship here in DC, I'm all in for watching him shove this series right up his ass. Reardon, too.

Absolutely. And even if they are the Islanders, and the brand of hockey is hideous, you have to doff your cap to what Trotz has been able to do with that team. It's very impressive.

The Isles are no more talented that the Caps, but they're way better coached. Watching their games is like watching the Lemaire Era Devils; defensive borefest. They will be a tough out until a team jumps them early and gets up a goal or 2 and forces them to open up a bit.

It seemed like the Rangers played tighter and better in that warm-up game vs the Isles than they played any of the 3 games against the Canes. (I know the teams are very different.) All parties were rusty, but NYR seemed to have more clarity about what they wanted to do.
