Golden Knights’ Robin Lehner Says NHL Season Can’t Be Saved

Like, no shit.

"Hey everybody either sick, bankrupt, or just having buried a loved one, come on down and give a shit about grown men playing a children's game! It's been a couple weeks!"

The first sport to start has to be baseball. They're the sport of hope.

The Mets first game after 9/11 was something special.

Obviously some truth to this, but I wouldn't underestimate the power of sports in the process of returning to normalcy. The excitement, escapism, and the unity created by sports has an incalculable effect.

Yeah, sure. I agree with that. They should start the baseball season as soon as practicable.

The hockey season is done. There talking about playing in to late August, now, in what looks to me like an obvious attempt to salvage revenue for millionaires and billionaires.

Seasons in ALL sports will be impacted. The NHL, for instance, is going to ramp up immediately after resumption? When exactly? June? July? Just jump on the ice and resume play? No large gatherings = no fans = a complete farce. Sports are far from essential businesses. The fans get their jolllies off, the rich get richer with inflated ticket prices, outlandish $$$ for jerseys produced in third world countries, food that is horrible and vastly overpriced; drinks as well. TV timeouts slow the game down while shooting the puck over the glass results in a "delay" of game penalty. Ridiculous that there is now no touch icing. Face-offs are routinely delayed as the linesman decides who is in or out for no apparent reason. Meanwhile, the league can't decide on what off-sides is and whether or not there is goalie interference. Laughable. And wishy-washy Bettman acts like all is fine in la-la land.

Even if it means a Stanley Cup in August and not starting next season until November, there will probably be some kind of playoffs. $ is important. It may be ugly, but it will happen barring something way worse.
