Yah. Love the false equivalency of higher property/income taxes = luxurious lifestyles. Ever go to Stowe, Vermont? Nantucket, MA? Aspen, CO? Those are luxury enclaves that do not pay property/income taxes in line with NYC. What your property/income taxes are paying is for proximity to NYC not a luxurious lifestyle. Poorly worded.

    Truth can be painful.

President Trump's re-election campaign sent cease-and-desist letters to local television stations on Wednesday, threatening them with legal action and potentially their broadcast licenses if they continue to air an ad from a Democratic group, Priorities USA. The ad plays audio of Trump downplaying the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic over a chart of the mounting number of cases in the U.S. — now at more than 69,000 — but the Trump campaign objected only to one clip, of Trump saying "this is their new hoax."

That quote comes from a Feb. 28 rally at which Trump repeatedly called his handling of the epidemic "one of the great jobs" and compared the Democrats "politicizing" of the coronavirus to the Russia investigation and Ukraine scandal. As The Washington Post noted in a fact-check cited by the Trump campaign, Trump said this:

They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything ... And this is their new hoax. But you know we did something that’s been pretty amazing. We have 15 people in this massive country and because of the fact that we went early, we went early, we could have had a lot more than that. [Trump, Feb. 28 rally]

Dude is really just the worst possible human to have in in the WH during a time like this. Pence is a complete tool but I'd rather have Trump self quarantine and let Pence handle it.

Stimulus plan that had 500b in money to corporations with literally no safeguards in place? No problem.

1b to get these ventilators that are literally a matter of life or death? Woah, lets crunch the numbers on this.

Because I’m appalled about how shitty he’s handling this. Enough with the fake news shit. It’s a god damn pandemic. You’re the president of the US as the country is taking a beating. For once, he should just take the high road. Or just let Pence do the pressers.

There’s gotta be at least something he’s done right thus far?

Why does it have to be perceived as binary choice, like he has done everything right or nothing right? I am equally appalled(but not completely surprised) as Niko on the overall handling.

Sure there are several positive things that you can point to like the early February travel restrictions.

However when you see things like:

*Misinformation regarding the availability of testing that depletes available numbers of tests
*Contradiction of the experts while standing next to them at a press conference
*Bickering with reporters asking pertinent questions; granted some of them are indeed "gotcha" type questions, but being a leader is knowing how to skillfully sidestep these and impart a sense that you are in control of the situation
*Saying things like the US government is not a supply clerk; I don't think any president in my lifetime has ever said anything that callous during a crisis
*Pushing initiatives to re-open the country with such little forethought put into the communications, that it comes across as obvious that the only thing he is worried about is his re-election campaign

I simply don't understand how anyone can say that is good leadership or management in a crisis whatever your partisan standing is.

    It's truly shameful.

“When people start talking about 20 percent of a population getting infected, it is very scary but we don’t have data that matches that based on the experience,” Birx said.

“There’s no … reality on the ground where we can see that 60 to 70 percent of Americans are going to get infected in the next eight to 12 weeks,” Birx later continued.

Birx, an HIV/AIDS expert from the State Department who was brought on to coordinate the federal government’s response to the coronavirus, noted that 19 of the 50 U.S. states are showing a persistently low level of coronavirus cases despite reporting early infections. These 19 states each have fewer than 200 cases, Birx said, and are still working to actively contain the virus rather than mitigate its spread.

“That’s almost 40 percent of the country with extraordinarily low numbers and they are testing,” Birx said.
Does she qualify as an expert?

Mike Pence looks like he's doing everything in his power to not stab Caesar there. Turn of a phrase, because this isn't Caesar, this is Caligula. Or Nero. Take your pick of abjectly incompetent Roman Emperors.

Regardless, this is the monster we elected. Our government, thanks to our votes, our abstention, our collective apathy, our collective greed, whatever you want to call it, no longer values our lives over profits.

Your local and state taxes are going for your services provided, which Im guessing you are enjoying daily.
You just mentioned a few vacation resort towns, you are comparing apples to oranges.

Ill go back to my original point, your percentage of higher living cost is due to the services your city provides. Dont expect it whine for the feds to compensate you higher because of that.

Im pretty sure you do, because you just explained in another thread..

I don't care to pay my taxes, as Puck said my roads are plowed and paved, my trash collected, my trees get pruned, issues are resolved in a timely manner, construction projects don't last decades.

"Lifestyle" isn't the term I would use, but okay.

    Lifestyle is the incorrect word.
I think services is a better example.
