What Would You Consider a Successful Trade Deadline Day for Gorton and the Rangers?

Would it be staying status quo and making a run for the Wild Card, trading Kreider, or a massive shakeup?

My ideal scenario would be:

1. Trade Kreider for 3 assets (a combo of NHL or near NHL talent and Draft Picks.. Might be 2 players and a #1 or 2 picks and a player)

2. Trade Skjei in a real hockey trade. Carolina now has a big hole, Florida is a partner here.. This would be the move that gets me the most excited

3. Trade Fast for a pick- I'd love to see him land a 2nd rounder. But probably a 3rd.

As much as I want Kreider to be part of the future lineup, I don't think you can take a chance on him walking for nothing. Plus they lose all leverage in that situation. I think we see #1 and #3 today on your list. I think #2, if it happens, will be off-season/draft day type of trade.

Must trade:

Kreider

--

Trade if you get floored:

Fast

Strome

Buch

Geo

ADA/Trouba

--

Get back:

NHL player with real upside (like Zib, when we got him)

Can't miss prospect who's close (Fox type)

First rounders worth having (potentially front half of draft)

--

Not going for volume coming back, going for value.

I want at least one valuable asset brought into the organization.

All UFAs need to be signed or dealt today.

I hope they dont get hosed on any trades

I don't worry about getting hosed on the trades as much as I do signing the RFA's. Those are the deals that give me the squirts.

I'm going with :

Kreider - gone for whatever we can get of value, and a #1

ADA - If we're blown away with value, yeah then...traded

Strome - I hang on to, and let it go to Arbitration...we can use a center like him

Fast - I think he's gone, I'm not expecting more than a 3rd rounder for him

Lemeiux - stays put

Hank - I have no idea with him, I think he's stubborn enough to stay and not waive his NTC

Georgiev - I still think there's a chance we could get something good for him with the recent Goalie injuries around the NHL

I'll be a watchin'!!!

Bingo. This, entirely, is what I consider a successful deadline day. Make hockey deals. Don't keep rebuilding. BUILD.

Heart says keep Kreider, head says let him go. Fast has been the quintessential good soldier, but gotta move. Cut the difference between head and heart by trading Georgie.

1 regular that fits, 1 A-/B+ prospect, and 1 pick is a fine haul to hope for.

Vlad to COL!

Always listen to your head. It's the brains of the operation.

Ozzy don’t jump! You still owe me a beer.

What’s being said here is good. Build. That means Kreids is a goner. The only change of heart to keeping would be the news of the century that Hank was traded first...then you can keep Kreider. The mid-level changes must happen.

I'm banking on the fact that Gorton does it right, Big Guy!! If not, I'll give Robbie J the coin and he'll buy more than a couple for you!!!

Pretty much this, though I'd add Skjei to that "Trade if you get floored" list.

There's something with Florida there; maybe a bigger deal, even.
