The Rangers are above .500 in regulation, have more reg. wins than many teams safely in the playoffs, have scored more goals than surrendered, and are better than half the teams in the league. In an honest reckoning, they are about number 12-13. That's not a contender, but it's a team that should be one step past the annual deadline purge in its development. They've been a different team for these last four. I still don't think they have a shot at the playoffs. But hell, I was ready to stick a fork in them and watch the fire sale after the Buffalo game.
