Sens wont take him. Melnick isnt wasting money

Which is probably why they’d buy him out and in the process get themselves an affordable rfa to play goal instead of trying to dip into the free agent market. It’s not unheard of.

-it seems highly likely that there?s been some serious pressure from Shesty?s camp for this to happen especially considering his contract options. he?s reached peak AHL and it?s a tough spot to be expected to improve upon what he?s already done. what if he slumped or got injured?

-any move to head back overseas for the remainder of the year would be another black eye in a recent series of black eyes. Krav definitely wasted time and although it?s a completely different situation there?s plenty of scrutiny to go around with how Lias was handled.

-a month ago the ideal would?ve been to keep Shesty in Hartford for a season, fix the defense in front of him, make a playoff run, and move Georgie around the draft. Hank would transition to a mentor role and finish his career the perfect Ranger minus a cup.

-but it?s January and now we?re sellers. Hank?s not going anywhere so we have to move Georgie or find a reason to tell/show Shesty he?s close but needs a little more time. the window here is small but it lines up well with the trade deadline. Lemieux is out for a few more weeks and we?ve been going with 22 anyway. so we call up Shesty to calm his camp but also throw him in the fire against the Avs right away and perhaps STL and the Islanders next. he?ll see 110-130 shots in his first 3 games alone. all the while working the phones hard for a return on Georgie. if Shesty struggles we send him down and go back to plan A, minus the playoff run.

-the dangers are: Georgie gets traded and then Shesty gets lit up by our swiss cheese defense. in which case we just play more Hank, but still. or there?s little to no return for Georgie mid season so he stays and we work to beef up value, Shesty plays well when he?s in, and we fucking fumble everything trying to keep all 3 focused.

-of course one injury clears up everything. or for all we know Georgie is already gone.

Buying him out isn't wasting money? It's real dollars to piss away. The send aren't looking for cap savings.

Trading for a cost controlled rfa that could be your future starter for the next 2-3 years isn’t saving money? The Sens are looking for future assets that can round out a rebuilding roster. I doubt they want to call up last years 2nd round pick since he’s still a teenager , probably don’t want to dip into free agency and overpay to get a goalie to agree to come, and Anderson probably should retire. We are both speculating so whatever. It’s all in good fun anyway.

Good luck to Shesty tonight, he'll need it after the Avs got shutout last night.

I watched that whole game; McKinnon is going to be a tough out tonight. He should have scored twice last night and got stoned by his buddy Varly! He had a chance with 1 second left and shot it wide on a basically empty net! Tonight will most likely be very different. Especially with our defensive structure...or lack-thereof. ;)

Fans seem pretty hyped for this. I imagine he?ll get a good response at the Garden. Hell, there were IG-OR chants during a preseason game.
Funny that they chant HENRIK and in the one preseason game I went to they chanted IGOR....when Gorgie is in net all you hear is crickets.

Is Shesterkin starting Thursday against the Devils?

That's a tough call. You don't want to be the goalie that loses to a shitty devils team and you don't want your goalies going cold. They should put him in to get a better feel of his game at this level. All things considered, he had a really good first game.

If they have any designs of making a run at the playoffs I really, truly, believe it has to be Shestyorkin that carries the ball. I believe he's the only tender capable, and athletic enough, to clean up after these losers.

If that's not really the first priority this year then you're going to have to start rotating right away. Not going to be many back to back starts for any goalie of there remains three on board.
