LindG1000
DQ is in a very tough position with Hank and Staal. You can tell by his interview answers that he's not totally comfortable talking about it. Both guys will get back into the lineup but when your team wins, you just can't start fucking with the roster. It's not a comfortable position to be in, and it speaks to his spine as a coach. He's benching two players who probably lead the Rangers in all-time playoff appearances and define an entire generation of the team. And yeah, Staal belongs there - he was the top prospect when we came out of the lockout and has been a Ranger for the better part of 15 years now. Nothing comfortable about benching a pair of franchise all-timers. But he's doing it and getting results. edit - can confirm Hank and Staal are 1 and 3 in playoff GP, 6th and 8th in RS GP. Also, Carl Hagelin's played in more playoff games for the Rangers than Mark Messier, so...there's that.

Just thought you had seen something that made this game in particular the "time to shine". I thought maybe he got bumped up a line but nah...still with Haley and hooves for hands Smith. It totally sucks But it’s also part of being a HC and he knew he was walking into a rebuild and that this type of thing would probably come up it’s some veterans, even if one of them is a HOF’er

But, they're the right calls based on the results he's getting. Good on him for making the hard decisions and sticking with them

So hopefully he can successfully send the appropriate message to the individuals. This is only tough on a coach if his message/actions have been inconsistent from player to player. The game he finally chose to bench him was pretty shitty. On Girardi night he should have been in. Period. I'll have a gripe with it too if when he does get re-inserted, it's Lindgren or Hajek, rather than Skjei, getting sent to the pressbox unless their play deteriorates from what it is now or Skjei's play significantly improves. I personally would have benched Skjei on Girardi night and maybe rotated him back in for Staal the next game.

Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
Beat the Preds, beat the Lightning, lose to the Sens...it would kind of fit the unpredictable nature of the young line-up. Hoping it doesn't happen though. 5-2 Rangers win. Kakko 1g, 1a. How Rangers would it be to lose 5-2 to this horrible Ottawa team after the last two games?
