I Read it Once.... In a Book Thread

What books are you reading? Are they any good? Would you recommend?

I just finish "Rant" by Chuck Palahnuk (sp?) and it is phenomenal. One of my recent favorites actually. And I'm currently reading "Eating Animals" which is pretty good but not as effective as some of the other "our food is shit" books that I've read.

    Recommendations:

Anything by John Krakauer (Where Men Win Glory, Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, etc.)
    "Brave New World"
    "Fast Food Nation"
    "1984"
    "Ishmael"

I second Brave New World and 1984. Slaughterhouse Five and Catch 22 are both great fictions. A newer good fiction is the Gold Coast. As far as non-fiction goes, it depends on what you like. I read How Soccer Explains the World by Franklin Foer and i thought it was great. I'm currently reading the Alexander Hamilton biography by Ron Chernow. I'd like to get to the Theodore Roosevelt biopics by Edmund morris.

I never liked Bio's until I read Malcolm X's autobiography, now Im pretty into them. That's another book I'd recommend by the way.

Same. I don't see the appeal in him at all.

I bought his first book after reading the website, which was a waste, because it was everything from the website. I knew about the website a year before the book.

I always start books but have the bad habit of not finishing them. This summer I actually plan on reading a few in their entirety.

For anyone interested in the Holocaust/Hitler/Nazi Germany/Psychology, check out Hitler: The Pathology of Evil by George Victor. FASCINATING read because it doesn't say what Hitler did, it says why, which is so much more important.
