not sure i'd want to get rid of smith either. the guy can do anything you ask of him. pretty valuable.

 

There's a pretty severe limit to that "anything."

 

He's shown versatility in terms of being able to be deployed as a forward or defender and being able to do both in the same game (playing F at ES and D on the PK), but he has pretty clear limits otherwise. He's not running a PP or shutting down opposing teams' top lines any time soon, for example.

...or playing goal. maybe he could if the coach asked him. he's on the fourth line and doing a fine job as of now. not sure why you disregarding that unless he runs the PP

He is currently suspended from the team so his cap doesn't count.

I don't understand any of this.

 

1) They don't have cap space, their cap space is just being held for Byfuglien.

 

2) If that guy doesn't return to hockey, why the fuck would they want Smith? They could use the space on 50 different candidates. Brendan Smith would not be one of those candidates.
