I can see the headline... "Most corrupt president of all time blows the lid off corruption".

Plenty of people commit crimes and don't get convicted.

And how do you quantify the "most corrupt of all time" other than because I said so?

If you go by wiki's political definition EVERY politician right AND left is corrupt.

"Political corruption occurs when an office-holder or other governmental employee acts in an official capacity for personal gain." Personal gain IS their number one goal
Yea, but it doesn't matter because none of them are the president or currently holding any political office. Trump is. And we're talking about Trump. So stay on topic.

Trump lies more than any other president in history. It's well documented.

    He violated the emolument clause.

There's overwhelming evidence he used his office to further his own personal agenda.

If that's not the most corrupt president of all time... I'd love to know who you think is. Maybe Nixon?

It takes some serious mental gymnastics to believe a liar and a cheat will save you from another liar and a cheat. And even if he did, he's still lying to you and cheating people.

Not sure how you reconcile that.

You can read the impeachment report yourself.

The emoluments clause violation is plain as day when he forces government employees and delegates and foreign diplomats to stay in his hotels. It's pretty cut-and-dry and therefore not worth debating.

Nah, the joke is the White House actively obstructing Congress — a coequal branch of government — in their impeachment inquiry by refusing to obey Congressional subpoenas that would speak directly to the "hard evidence" you want.

    It's not a legal hearing.

Doesn't have to be. They're a co-equal branch. These are subpoenas. If the Dems played this silly game and took this to the courts, they'd win. But they'd waste months they can't afford to in the process (something Rs are well aware of, which is why they're so willing to act this brazenly). So, we go with what we have.

Some me where it's proven Trump FORCED anybody to stay in his hotels. I'm sure foreign diplomats are big boys that aren't bullied as to where to stay. How do we know that Trump didn't provide a big discount or other incentives to stay in his hotels over other hotels? I'm sure the deranged left would find a way to call that a violation of the emoluments clause....
The challenge with folks such as yourself is that when proof is delivered, you flat out ignore it.

Like the Mueller Report (right, Trump wasn't indicted but all his friends were...and I'm sure he just had no idea at all what was going on!)

Like the Impeachment report. "Report is a joke full of hearsay, innuendo, second, third and fourth party assumptions and is bullshit and we all know it." It's not, but sure. OK.

I'm not going to do the work for you. Googling "Trump emoluments" will give you everything you need.

Ignoring evidence doesn't mean there isn't evidence. You've been shown for years.

Senate acquittal would be nothing but a stay of execution for Trump

Sadly, Senate acquittal is also a done deal. Republican House members on the Intelligence and Judiciary committees have made it quite clear during the impeachment inquiry that the GOP is in the tank for the president. The obstinacy of House Republicans makes it crystal clear that House Democrats canít secure the 20 Senate Republican votes needed to remove the president from office.

If the Senate fails to remove the president, Trump will use the acquittal as vindication. But Senate acquittal may be nothing more than a stay of execution for Trump. The evidence and public testimony may not have convinced House and Senate Republicans, but it has moved the public, which has the final say on Trumpís tenure.

Pelosi deserves a lot of credit for her handling of the impeachment process. A CNN national survey conducted in May indicated that a clear majority opposed impeaching and removing the president (41 percent yes, 51 percent no).

But the impeachment inquiry turned the public around. A follow up survey by the network in late November showed that most people (50 percent yes, 43 percent no) had decided it was time for the president to go. In the November poll, a majority of Americans (56 percent) rejected the presidentís defense that his only concern was corruption in the Eastern European country. Six in ten Americans (62 percent) donít think Trump is honest and trustworthy.

Trump will claim the Senate acquittal absolves him of guilt. But the impeachment process will pay off for Democrats in 2020. House Democrats have presented a compelling case to voters about the presidentís guilt.

That's what the article is suggesting. In effect, that though acquittal in the Senate is a foregone conclusion, the decision to impeach him regardless was not simply for the value of a scarlet I, rather to strategically dismantle the inherent advantage of the incumbent, which reflects in the numbers (especially among Independents).

I don't see how he can escape the obstruction charge.

I mean I do, because Republicans gonna Republican, but it's pretty cut and dried that he obstructed the impeachment investigation.
