TOR Re-Sign Mitch Marner to 6-Year/$65.358M Extension; $10.893M AAV

They have two years of Andersson and then that will be interesting.

Three years of Reilly who absolutely has to be re-signed, that's pretty fuzzy how that even remotely happens.

Same core issue remains with backend. Anything can happen, but it looks a little cobbled together with heavy bets on unproven guys in bottom three.

Starting to hemmorhage draft picks, which, we know better than anybody, will catch up with the eventually.

If they don't get out of round 1 this year...

They'll fire Babcock.

Panarin's deal looks like a benchmark on which this might have been based. Perhaps it's just because Toronto has always found a way not to contend (no trips to finals) for the past 52 years even with a good number of stars passing through, I somehow feel this is not going to work out for them. I see a combination not being able to keep good secondary players due to the cap and lack of good draft picks catching up with them before they can win a cup.

TOR Overpaid Marner by about $2.4 million AAV and now have his contract alongside Tavares and Matthews (in which all three players are very good) but there are some TOR fans expecting a $4M difference between Marner and Nylander.

Being with all things considered, they could've signed Marner, Matthews, and most of their RFAs in free agency. Now they are tied up in cap hell and they need to win right now.

But he signed and Mitch will fulfill his dream of being a Maple Leaf and will be looking to get the team's first Stanley Cup in 51 years.
