Agree with this. Problem is it worth it to keep Kreider until the deadline when we would have to live with a buyout for 4 years. If a trade package now is close to what value would be at deadline it might just be best to do it now. I like the idea of $25m in cap space in a couple years when this team should be ready to make a serious run.

im thinking they do nothing with him. let him step it up in a contract year. if the team is not playoff bound, flip him at the deadline. if they are let him be a part of the run.

 

if you lose him for nothing, wtf... if panarin and tavares were let go for free, what are you really going to gain in a kreider trade.

They flat out said they didn't want to do that.

 

Doesn't mean they won't, but they said as much.
