My guess is that Spooner sits next if he does nothing, and he generally does nothing.

Are does lines real? If so, what the fuck? Yeah, I know, trust the process blah blah, but Buch sitting for McLeod? Fuck outta here with this bullshit.

And Vesey - Howden - Names our 2nd line, really? Finally we have a rookie playing good and rightfully earned a top 6 spot, but still have to play with Vesey and Namestnikov lol. This team is so shit rn.

You can’t really look at it as a top 6 at the moment. Quinn is shifting everyone around and looking for potential combinations.
I’d imagine the Chytil-Hayes-Zuc line gets at least as much time on the ice as that “2nd” line.

Based on the way Buch was playing, you could put me in there and not see a tangible difference.

I don't get the man love over this guy, who does something once every 5 games and then goes back to the suck.

Can't wait to see MacKinnon destroy the defense. Should make for some good highlight reel plays. Exciting game.

The issue isn't benching Buch as much as it is putting McLeod in for him. It poisons the argument from the onset because the optics around why Buch is being benched immediately shift to "...and Cody McLeod is a better option!?"

That's my point, the message to Buch (which is the only message that matters), is "Yes, right now McLeod is playing to his potential and you're not."

The message is towards Buchnevich, it doesn't matter who goes in for him to get that message across.

Maybe that's why McLeod made the team. He's a motivational tool.
"Look at this guy, getting benched for Cody McLeod for fucks sake". Hard to imagine a harder kick in the bollocks than that.

Buchnevich is a lazy dog. I've been all for trading him forever. If they can trade Staal and Buchnevich for Saad and a 2nd, do it immediately Gorton. Then bring Hajek up.

Saad is having issues of his own. Including what can be perceived as “laziness.” Quenneville has been moving him up and down the lineup trying to get him going and it hasn’t been working much. Mark Lazarus has a good piece on him in The Athletic. If you’re tired of Buch’s play, Brandon Saad isn’t the answer.

Combination of reports from practice (Fs) and educated guess (on D).

You won't miss much. Varlamov has a sub-2.0 GA/A and the fourth-highest SV% among league starters at the moment. I'm fully expecting the Avs will snuff the Rangers out with ease.

If by "winning 3-1" you mean "lose 4-1," then yes.

I was thinking the same thing, V!!

What cracks me up is that as the games move along, I'm starting to see different things develop and improve a little with these guys; OK, Edmonton isn't the best team around, but the Rangers didn't really give up a lot of odd man rushes in that one. I also think that was the fewest High scoring opportunities we've allowed as well.

The thing that I keep seeing though is that we sometimes get 3 wingers trapped behind the opposition goal line, and also I've seen 3 guys all on the same side of the ice at a time. I'm pretty sure it's a growing thing, and that these guys are young and will do that type of stuff an awful lot before they get comfortable, but it's pretty glaring that these guys have a LONG way to go in their learning curve.

Again, tempering expectations is the ticket. Just gimme an A+ effort and let's see some improvement. I'm good with that! Who knows we may just take it to these guys tonight.
