The issue with Wilson is not his play. It's that his play is not, under any justifiable set of circumstances, commiserate with his PAY. The dollars matter. A LOT.

This Caps team may have won the Cup, which gives them some padding here, but they're the same club who traded away multiple pieces to keep their group together. They're almost certainly going to do the same next season with Burakovsky and/or Vrana and deals like Wilson's are why.

A popular player got paid, they’ll regret this contract in a year or two

    Nobody ever says that.

Good Contract. Team Still have more questions than answers. But if WSH can resign most of their core on defense, then they can be a serious threat to the east like they were last year. Look what happened with them last year

Wilson was probably the 5th or 6th winger on that line over the past 2 seasons. Oshie was there, Burakovsky was there, Connolly saw it for a minute.

None of them did what Wilson did, which was how he wound up in that spot.

So I agree with ya.

    Gotta spread it around.

Furthermore, not just anyone can play with 1 superstar, let alone 2, and have success. Their skill level and the way they see the game is on another planet. If a guy gets his chance like Wilson, and has consistent success like Wilson, then good for him. And win or lose, if he has the same playoff success every year, those extra dollars are worth it. Get your fuckin money. These players go through a lot to get where they are at any level.

He actually had a few good seasons and one great one, for his role.

He usually hovered around the 12-14 minute mark, with some exceptions.

Wilson averaged 16 this year and didn't even get PP time.

Indeed. Regular season-wise, 13 of his 14 goals came at even strength, as did 20 of his 21 assists. I believe the same is true of his playoffs. I know all his goals were scored at even strength.

The reason being is he’s no where talented enough to be on a PP

Maybe not on Caps pp the way they run it. There’s no place for him on the ice except the high slot where Oshie is. He’s a big body that could probably pot 5-8 on the pp by bangin home rebounds.
