He's not another Stepan. He's a better Stepan.

We don’t need a Stepan or a slightly better, more expensive, Stepan.

I don’t think he’s worth the 7.5 mil. per year contract. And of course that’s without saying what we would need to trade away to get him.

I like ROR and I like his game. I definitely have concerns about the contract but for the proposed trade cost I'd do this. He is definitely an upgrade over Hayes, Day is expendable because who knows if his game even will translate to the NHL, and one of our three 1sts is ok.

Just because he is an upgrade, doesn't make this a sound deal. Giving up that asset package will need to yield a much better return. Most that I would do is Hayes straight up for O'Reilly(which Buffalo would never do unless they really wanted to get out from under that awful contract).

I don’t think Hayes goes anywhere as he’s one of the guys Quinn actually knows. If someone is going it will probably be Namestnikov. But I also can’t see us moving a 20 yr old 6’3” 220lb. smooth skating d-man that was compared to Jason Bouwmeester when he was drafted. There’s 2 things you can’t teach and that’s size & speed. The 26th pick sure—picks outside the top 10 are pretty much hit or miss.
