Steven Kampfer Out Four-to-Six Weeks; Rangers Recall D Ryan Sproul

    Another one bites the dust.

Shortly after 6 pm tonight, the New York Rangers announced the club has recalled defenseman Ryan Sproul from the Hartford Wolf Pack thanks to yet another long-term injury. This time to Steven Kampfer, who is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks with a fractured hand:

    Some bad luck for him.

    "FU" to Smith.

And why no Graves? I haven't watched the pack

    Probably just a righty/lefty thing.

    Holden is a lefty.

I understand that. I'm saying given the choice between a righty and a lefty they probably opted for the natural righty.

So almost 60 games into the season, they're like, "you know what, lets go all rookies down the right side. Holden's played on the top pair, and Graves is playing better than so n so, but let's call up a RHD."

According to credible twitter sources, Sproul has been hot recently, both offensively and defensively.

Maybe they also want to dangle him as trade bait? Good depth guy that isnt expensive or old. RFA at the end of the season, not sure the Rangers want to resign him. Back up the truck.

Annnd he has experience. No way AV goes with 3 rookies.

Interesting that they didn't call up Smith.

    4 call-ups on D tonight. That's what we've always wanted, right?

If he was worth keeping around they wouldn’t have put him on waivers. I think management had enough of his play.

Unreal the injuries, but next man up and his time to shine.

Four of the six defensemen we will dress tonight were in the AHL a month ago. Amazing. If repeated scratches did not turn Smith around, it is unlikely that two games in the minors will, so it is probably best that he was not called right back. He won't be going to seven weddings this summer and getting out of shape. He should finish the year with the Pack and start training for next year.

No, he should be exploring KHL options.

If he doesn't pick up his game to AHL standards, he will be exploring ECHL options.
