    Kovalchuk's Eyes on New York?

    27. One of the Olympic hockey subplots will be Ilya Kovalchuk. Unlike last summer, when New Jersey held his rights, he is unrestricted this time. And, if he comes back to the NHL, it is believed his eyes are on New York.

I would think he would be an adequate fit for replacing Nash if Nash doesn’t come back. Of course not the two way player but probably still a better offensive player. And best of all costs nothing in terms of the rebuild other than some money and a roster spot

You only go after him if you are also going after JT or something. He alone doesn't move the needle for this team, and there's no guarantee he'd be as effective in today's NHL.

Love to see Sean Avery's tweets/insta posts if Kovalchuk signs with the Rangers

Could be a nice addition, but how long of contract do you want to give and what does he want?

I’m not a huge fan just posting what Friedman reported.

Also would note as long as there is not a no ntc he would be a valuable piece to move next deadline to bolster the rebuild

I cant pass up Kovalchuk. Not unless his salary demands are too high.

Not interested unless he takes a decent pay cut. 3-4mil at most otherwise...hard pass .

Hell naw. We are calling for a rebuild here. He's 34 now, plus I don't see him seeing for cheap.

Focus on more important things like a center and defense men.

Future, you were saying that one roster with JT would be cap strapped. So, why add Kovy $ for a 34 y/o. Come back over from the dark side.

Huh? I don't want Kovy, but the only way you do try to make that happen is if you're buying for next season.

How can anyone want to sell this season and add Kovalchuk the next the same breath?
