    That, too, is absurd.
I didn't say they acquired him to be a middle six forward. They also didn't acquire him to be Ovechkin. What's truly absurd is comparing any active goal scorer to Ovechkin.

Ovechkin scores .607 goals per game for his career. That's 6th ALL-TIME. The next closest active player, and only other player over .5 goals per game, is Stamkos at .540.

You can't compare anyone's goal scoring to Ovechkin. He is the premier goal scorer of this generation.

We also acquired Rick Nash when he was 27 or so. He's 34 now, and in the last year of his deal. Different point in the career.

If Rick Nash made 2.5M/y and was our 2nd line RW, he'd be fine. He's not, but he might be next year.

    LOL

Ranger fans seem to remarkably overvalue every single nearly meaningless regular season game.

We are in an excellent spot (3rd place after tonight) and I believe we may be in an even better position when April rolls around and the hockey season begins

Call me an optimist. I plead guilty.

I call me a lifelong Ranger fan

Many, if not all of us, are lifelong ranger fans. We just fall into different categories of what kind

I hope for the best but am also a realist. As good as they may play I don’t disillusion myself with the idea they’re legit contenders, because they’re not to me.

If they grabbed another legit center and scoring wing, then maybe I’d feel differently. With the roster as is, I can only hope for the best.

I think you lost the point of my post.

We acquired Rick Nash with the idea of him being an elite forward. I just used Ovechkin as a reference point to how pathetic Nash’s stats actually look.

The point is he has 9 fucking goals and it’s January. I’m not comparing him to Ovechkin, but I will say that I find it to be rather absurd that Nash hasn’t hit double digits while Ovechkin is on the brink of 30.

So you're not comparing him to Ovechkin by continuing to compare him to Ovechkin?

I don't think anyone is arguing that his lack of scoring is acceptable, or that we wouldn't want him to score more. This discussion is about if you want/accept/etc what he currently brings to the team.

I can see cap complaints (although, I can see those for all players), but cap space isn't a huge issue for this team.

Nash is on the wrong team, and playing the wrong system.

This coach has no clue how to use Rick Nash; He's a bull in a China shop, with good hands around the net. A Russian Red Army style of tic tac toe passing with no shots on goal does not bode well for a guy like Nash who formerly used to score 80% of his goals from 8 feet and in. You know, rebounds and stuff.

When was the last time you saw the Rangers score on a Rebound?????? I can't even think of one, maybe you guys can.

Point is, the Rangers should trade Nash to a team that can use him to win a Stanley Cup. He will definitely help them. While in the meantime the Rangers could get some really good picks or talent in his return. Besides, I can't possibly take this team as serious contenders with this jerk off behind the bench. He's a nice guy, the media loves him, and he's a "Player's coach".....

....never gonna win with this guy....sorry boys!
