If Kreider and Buch continue their amazing chemistry and
Hayes has another great game and
JT can play well in that 3C role then
I'm not too worried about the center position.

If the D can come through and
Hank is on top of his game then
I see this being a win.

Who would you rather? The equally at fault Smith? Not too many options there without disturbing Shatty and Skjei who seem to be playing nicely together.

Was just showing the sad state of the blue line.

I think Smith has looked a lot better than Holden over the last handful of games or so.

They've both made mistakes but Smith at least makes a play here and there.

Holden makes a lot of plays.

People just hate him too much to see the things he does well.

Since he was back, Smith played better than he did at the start of the season. He was a bit shaky the first game, played well after that, but both have struggled the last 2 games. They were getting more minutes against top lines, and they were drowning. Neither is good enough to expect them to play good, consistent defense against top lines. Smith was expected to be able to play these minutes, granted, unfairly, by most fans. Holden, I think I was the only one who slated him as a top line defender, based on pairings, not his talent.

Last game was also probably the worst roster this team has iced all season with our #1D and #1C both out. Let's not lose focus on that.
Yes, it's a problem that there isn't great depth to replace them, but with the ideal lineup, Holden and Smith are the bottom pair and don't get the matchups they're currently assigned, right?

What are your thoughts on Holden being on the top pair after his last 2 games?

My thoughts are we have won 10 of our last 13 games, most or all with him on the ice. So I am not for benching, replacing or releasing a player for "2 bad games"

I'm happy #27 is back tonight

I mean... when your goalie doesn't make saves, you can't win. Simple.
