Damn what's going on? They're killing my plan! They're supposed to suck, trade McD for Marner and do a rebuild.

I guess winning games isn't that bad tho.

Welcome to the 17-18 NY Rangers where you need 4+ goals a game to have a chance to win.

They won 4 games in a row, 2 on the road and 2 against teams at the top of the standings.

Still can't seem to figure this team out....They actually shot pucks to the net last night and got to rebounds, they threw a few solid body checks and some guys actually finished checks!! I'm pretty sure I left a small cocoa puff in my jeans watching this last night. It was yet another fun game to watch.

I'd still like to see them shoot more pucks at the net and stop the fancy crap. BUT.....when Kampfer threw that Konstantinov-type hit at our blue line I nearly pissed my pants! He even drew a retaliation penalty....which we scored on!!! I'm starting to really like that guy!

I'm looking forward to the Boston game.

It's not bad, it's an observation.
The team isn't very good defensively and goaltending has been shaky.
Therefore they need to score 4+ goals to win.
If they win every game 9-7 I'm good with it.

Then we agree lol. I think defense and goaltending will be better. Hank looks rusty, Smith needs to get going and Hayes is adapting to a new role. Skjei and McD have also played under what should be expected defensively, that will sort itself out.

Im just happy Zib has stepped up the way we hoped and that Shattenkirk has got the PP going.

Robbie, you see Hank keep dropping that shoulder on angle shots?? He got beat on it again last night. Is it me, or do you see him sitting back in his net a little bit? He dumped that shoulder on, I think it was Anderson's goal, and left that whole side open....seemed like a real softie to me.

The shot was dead inside the post, so it was labeled pretty well, but there was a lot more to hit from looking at the replay.

Our powerplay won a game! Have to tip hat to Shattenkirk for this revival so far. He's had a lot to do with the powerplay back there, and it's a several orders of magnitude difference between him as the PP QB and the carousel we've had before him. Clearly he just knows what he's doing.

Hank seems to be having trouble with shots coming from the right wing. Looks to me like he's sitting back to far in the net. Lucky for the Rangers we have the best goaltending coach in the world and he'll correct it no time at all I'm sure.

If we had this power play 3 playoffs ago we would've won the cup.

This. More than half the league (17 teams) averages 3 or more goals per game.

Based on how we lost to Ottawa, and the addition of offensively gifted but defensively challenged Shattenkirk, the loss of defensively strong Lindberg and trade of Stepan, I expected less defensive competence this season but more offense. And that’s what we’ve got. I just didn’t expect Hank to struggle like he has, or Pavelik so be so shaky too. If all goes like it looks to me like we’ll ultimately live or die by our goaltending.
If n ya gots jowls, they might as well be furry ones.

He still needs help. He and the whole team would benefit from a C like Lindberg, or even a top 6 C like RNH. A guy who can play defense and still bring some offense and help Hayes out in his matchups. Hank would also benefit from a steady Brendan Smith in the top 4. He need not be as physical as in the playoffs, but as reliable . Hank needs to keep gaining confidence, maybe even steal one. That's my recipe to contend this year.
