Good - that is all that was asked of management with this guy. Let him go play in the AHL.

Cool, so he'll get more NA exposure.
Not sure who develops players better though - is having Chytil in the AHL better than sending him back to CZ?

The guy they pencilled in as their 2C played a total of about 11 minutes before they figured out the obvious lol.

Very bizarre. If they thought he could actually help the team he would have been given minutes. So why keep him at all?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but can someone post Brooks' article today on Chytil? The only reason it makes so much sense is because it's filled with quotes from Chytil and Gorton. Just kidding Larry, you're doing a great job !

This will be good for his development. He'll get plenty of game time, adjust to the NA size ice, and have time to assimilate.

Age is only a factor if you're drafted out of Canadian Juniors.

And if you want to know why the Blueshirts dispatched Filip Chytil to the AHL Wolf Pack instead of sending him back home to his native Czech Republic following a two-game trial run on Broadway, here is as good of an answer as any, provided by the 18-year-old himself and relayed by general manager Jeff Gorton.

“In his mind,” the GM told The Post on Tuesday before the Rangers met the Blues at the Garden, “Filip is an NHL player.”
“I had a talk with Filip this morning where we discussed what would be best for him,” Gorton said. “And doing what’s best for him and his long-term interests are the priority.

“We want to see more of him before we come to the conclusion that he should go back to Czech — if that’s the decision. There’s no timetable on this. It depends on how it goes for him in Hartford. It could be a long-term thing, it might not be.

“We want to give him a chance. And he wants that chance.”
“He was the first to admit that the pace and competition stepped up from the preseason,” Gorton said. “Filip said that he was a little bit nervous on the ice. So we wanted to get him to a place where he would get the time he needs to develop. And he is going to get all the time he needs there.”
“We want to give Filip more time to acclimate himself to the smaller rink surface over here, which he acknowledged that he needs,” Gorton said. “And he wants it.
“You know what, too? We have control here. I don’t mean control of the player, I mean control over how much he plays, what line he plays on, whether he’s on the power play. It’s nice to have control, sometimes.”

Can we just go back to posting the real article from the start? Those are really telling quotes and I didn't even know this existed.

Rangers Reassign Filip Chytil, Release Andrew Desjardins from PTO

Considering Brooks' article wasn't released until after ours, I'm not exactly sure how you'd like me to accomplish that. The powers of clairvoyance I don't own?

I can see I've hit a chord. I'm just asking for all the info to be at the top if possible. If it's not, then so be it.

We routinely go in when we can, and when it's relevant, to edit articles and original posts to include key information. Having quotes from an article a Brooks published more than an hour after we pushed ours and already edited it once is probably not necessary in this case. Especially since his piece is being properly quoted and sourced just a few posts down from the OP.
