    Post Your Lineup (Preseason Edition)

This will likely change from preseason game to game, but post the lineup you'd go with if you were the GM and Coach of the Rangers. There are no wrong answers. Ok, that's a lie. But still. Have fun.

AV messes around with the lines too much. I would like to see him use linemates together more adn defensive pairings together during the preseason.
Mix the on the bubble roster guys in wherever you want to rest the regulars.

I'll take this. Please and thank you. Just give me KZB again, too.

    Yes...

    Kreider - Zib - Buch
    Vesey - Hayes - Miller
    Nash - Chytil - MZA
    Grabner - Desharnais - Andersson**/Fast
    Fast, Puempel

    McD - Shattenkirk
    Skjei - Pionk
    Smith - Deangelo
    Staal

If Andersson is going to not play center and/or get under 12 minutes per game of 4th line duty, I'd rather send him to Hartford. He can play the first 9 games while Fast recovers and still have his contract slide...

Yes sir. Hard for the opponent to score when we have the puck the whole game.

This has me thinking...I wonder if Chytil and Andersson sort of platoon the 3C spot. I feel like two rookie centers, especially 18 year olds, is a really bold ask, but giving both of them 40 games might be a good option. Would help prevent either of them from getting too tired over the course of the year as well.

I like this idea more than putting either on the 4th line, and hinders development.

For me, I just dont think Andersson is ready. I havent seen it from him. Actually, the more I watch, the less impressed I am. He's not ready. Bringing him along right now, IMO, will severely Malhotra his abilities. For what he can actually do now, we can find that on the waiver wire or in the AHL. No sense ruining a #7 pick for a bottom 4 role this season.

Chytil is interesting, though. He's more offensively developed than Andersson, and seems to be in a spot in his development where he is soaking everything in. He's been contributing offensively, and doesnt have much issue keeping up in the o-zone. I almost think having him around would be a huge benefit for his development. He doesnt need to play every game, but I dont want that sponge to dry out.

I trust management, and am curious to see what happens.

    Nieves, Carey
    Fast (IR)

    Staal - Deangelo
Kampfer or Holden (one waived, sent to Hartford)

    Between $500K - $800K capspace depending on 7th D.

That said, if Pionk has a really strong showing tonight, he could throw a monkey wrench into the D.

Trade Holden, waive Kampfer, keep Pionk. Staal and Pionk can battle for 5D or as long as the Rangers want to convince themselves Staal is still an NHL player.

I think this is spot on...just not sure if Nieves makes the team. I think he starts down in Hartford. Lettieri has earned a spot.

Can Andersson start in Hartford or does he have to go back to Sweden for the year?

Kev, your right, Nieves likely needs a season in Hartford. Besides everything else he needs to work on his D and positioning. He uses his straight line speed to make up for bad D.

    My LINEUP to open season

[Holden traded, Staal eventually traded with half of salary retained]

AV cares about the short term.
    He takes Chytil, no Lindberg.
He also slots Staal with DeAngelo, sends Pionk and Kampfer down and makes Holden the 7th.

    Kreider--Zib--Buch
    Nash--Chytil--Zuccs
    Vesey--Hayes--Lettieri
    Grabner--Andersson--Miller
    McD--Shatty
    Skjei--Smith
    Staal--DeAngelo

    Pionk, Desharnias

I know I'm bias and I'm picking the kids over the older guys but people like Nieves, Desjardin,Carey & Kampfer have to really blow everyone away because they've been to preseason/training camp before--not just be a little better they need to be a lot better

You know AV rolls our 4 lines but even besides that it more about surrounding rookies with vets to help their progression and hasten their learning curve. That's why I have all 3 rookies on separate lines. I know it's wishful thinking and there's a slim to none chance that AV would actually go with 3 rookies but still they have the capability to produce, more so than the vets we've brought in.

I get spreading out the rookies, but AV doesn't roll 4. Ideally, maybe, but that hardly ever actually happens. I think you'd be better off swapping Miller and Lettieri and making that your second line or something. Because Miller should be one of the top 2 or 3 forwards at EV TOI.
