Farnham looks like he wants to earn a spot. idk if he's actually good enough but im not opposed to a 2way deal

is Halverson supposed to come in midway through the 2nd or no?
    its a catch 22.
although he could be a 13th forward/regular call up, this is the type of player AV obsesses over. AV has a history of overplaying these guys throughout his nhl tenure.

I like what he brings, but hes not an nhl player/regular. I'd much rather ice Grabner and Fast as the everyday wingers, when healthy.

I dont think Farnham will threaten either Grabner or Fast's playing time.

DeAngelo has some wheels. Like what I'm seeing from Pionk too.

    Thoughts so far:

DeAngelo looks effing great. Crisp passes. Smooth moves. Good transitional offensive positioning.
    Vets look preseasony.
    Pavelec untested at this point.
Andersson looks like a C version of Fast, so far.

Refreshing to see another mobile defenseman on the ice. Prior to this game I had only seen him play in two others. Will be following his and Pionks progress more closely now.

It's not only that he's "mobile".

Yandle was "mobile" and so is Shattenkirk - DeAngelo is that special breed of defenseman who *wants* to score. Not chip in. Not make things happen. He wants to be the catalyst. There's only a handful of those players in the league. I think Subban would be probably the biggest/most notable among them.

    But yeah totally on board.

10 minor penalties called so far only halfway through the game.

Not as bad as the 15 penalties so far in the Caps/Devils game.

    Edit: 12 penalties now?

Pionk has a heavy shot, but he's either nervous or inaccurate. Strikes me as a *solid* AHL/NHL fringe defenseman

How mad can you really be about a pre-season call. Really. I mean, I get it. Competitive spirit, but.. yeah.

    Agreed.

Wow. These zebras going crazy with the calls.

12 penalties called through 40 minutes. Damn near unwatchable.

How are coaches supposed to evaluate players when they're really just watching special teams practice?

I understand they want to get rid of slashing on the hands/wrist but this is ridiculous. No flow to the game. Gonna turn into football.

    I *really* like DeAngelo.
He messed up in tight quarters but recovered and reset all by himself.

Speaking of football, the Giants continue to suck.

What a goal by Pionk. Snoozer of a game, though.

Great move and good game by Pionk. DeAngelo was good too.
