If he formally signed his NHL retirement papers he'll need to wait four years before returning. His only playing options are now in Europe or Russia.

Yeah, can't see him playing anywhere but the NHL. However, never say never

What Josh said. I was not thrilled at the trade, but Klein pleasantly surprised and was a family favorite. Tough to see his game drop off as he really hit his stride and it seemed like injury or something did him no favors. I half expect him to return somewhere int he coming years, but maybe it's for good. Well done Kevin you gave us your best, and when you could;t do that you gave the best of what you could..

So he signed a one-year deal in Switzerland? Why the hell would he retire here with a contract still intact only to move away from his family to play a year in a lesser league?

Maybe he felt he wasn't going to get much playing time here? Money aside maybe all the guy wants to do is play.

I believe it's less travel, less physical, shorter season, etc. not as much money, but a way for him to continue to be (more) healthy and hopefully enjoy playing.

Well, I hope he enjoys it. He was a good NHLer. Seems like he did us a favor.

I can think of far less taxing retirement plans than playing pro hockey in Switzerland to close out my career.

Holy shit. Pirri played 60 fucking games?! How easy to forget.
    Out: Girardi, Klein, Stepan, Raanta
    In: Shattenkirk, Desharnais, Pavalec, DeAngelo/Bereglazalov/Pionk

    60 minutes sounds more realistic.
