Any Rockland county residents on the board?

The fianc? and I are looking to buy and we've decided on rockland county because of her family in NJ. We threw around other options but I would be unhappy on Staten Island and she hates Long Island, so Rockland made the most sense.

Having only been up there a handful of times, we've narrowed it down to Suffern, Pearl River and Nanuet based on proximity to trains and school district/neighborhood demographics.

Any of you guys live in any of these these towns and have some insight? We were told parts of nanuet fall into spring valley, which is where the ultra orthodox community is, which makes the school district poor. However, we have no idea where that line in the town is, lol.

Any advice? Our budget is $500k at the very most, but we were hoping to keep it $365-450k
