Idk I'm not ready to give up on Miller just yet.

Raanta, Hayes, 2018 2nd for Dougie, but at that point, I think that's an overpayment.
    Maybe a 3rd or 4th instead of the 2nd.
    IDK.
    I'm still new at this.

I'm down with sending Hayes the other way.

I'd be all about that trade. Maybe the second is too high, but if there's something like a 4th coming back I think it makes sense.

Ok say that does happen. Who takes the 3C spot? Do you move Miller back over, opening another wing spot? Do you sign a FA? Do you promote Oscar to 3C and move up one of the kids to play 4C?

I bet we'd have a 3rd line of Miller-Lindberg-Buch, at least to start, and then Grabner and Fast flank a veteran center or Nieves. I, personally, would be more than OK with that.

This is all assuming we don't lose a forward in the Vegas draft.

Value-wise yeah, I don't think we're too far off, but I'm also not sure CGY is chomping at the bit for Hayes and I assume they're not overly excited about losing Dougie. With that said, if there's a trade around these three players, I'm in.

I think Lindberg earned a spot on the third line, at least the start the season, as you mentioned, so then the 4C spot becomes available for whomever. Sure.

I don't think we'll see much roster movement before the ED though, so we'll talk again on the 22nd of June after we know who Vegas picks.

(Ps: The NHL draft is in Chicago, which I just found out - AWESOME!)

Will you wear your leafs jersey that's covered in wing sauce when you go?

Lindberg. He has the chops to take on a third-line role IMO. Plenty of offensive potential.

Finding a quality fourth-line center won't be difficult.

I wonder if Winnipeg is a trade partner option. Hellebuyck struggled as the starter, and Pavelec is a goner as a UFA. They have some pieces that could be attractive to us now and/or in the future.

Possible, but it'd be a hard sell that Raanta would be better than Hellbuyck, especially since the deal would almost certainly revolve around Trouba, weakening their D.

I wonder if Morrissey could be some sort of consolation prize in the Trouba sweepstakes?

I'd love to bring in Morrisey, just give us all of the LHD, we'll figure it out. lol

    Lol.

We've got enough LHD for sure, but whatever. Talent should trump which side guys play on, I think.

It does, in a sense, but it's especially difficult in this case given the utter lack of a competent right side defenseman. I think this is true of teams with one, maybe two holes here or there. Who have at least one, possibly two competent pairings but are struggling with a third.

The Rangers literally don't have one, and if Smith walks, it gets even starker. If Girardi is bought out, Kevin Klein becomes McDonagh's partner all of a sudden? It's brutal.

You were right to presume it would have to gravitate around Trouba.

I wasn't thinking blockbuster. I was thinking getting an asset such as an early-mid round pick, so we can expose Hellberg or another goalie. That way it guarantees we get something for Raanta instead of risk losing him for nothing
