No. That only happens if you own the rights to a player prior to signing.

Is Greenville still playing? Anywhere we can stick him for the time being to play some NA hockey?

Greenville is doing really well. I don't think they'd bring him over for that though. It's below the level he'd been playing at. I don't think it helps. He'll likely be over for the development camp right after the draft.

That's a good question. I imagine not, but I'm not actually sure. Never seen anything in the CBA saying no. I've never looked for that kind of information though.

That would be nice. Get him acclimated with the team and the NA game even if he can't participate in a game.

Listed at 6’3.5 and 205 pounds on the KHL’s official site, Bereglazov certainly is a big defenseman, and he uses that size well. He’s good at using his body as leverage in board battles and to shield the puck.

Though he certainly uses his body to block shots, he has a pretty good feel for when it’s best to let the goaltender see the puck. Unfortunately this next play actually results in a goal, but that’s really on the goaltender for not taking care of the puck. Watch as he boxes his man out and gives his goaltender clear sight.

He’s a shutdown defenseman, but even shot suppressors have to have the requisite offensive ability to make it at the NHL level. Bereglazov can move the puck, has decent mobility, and sufficient vision with the puck on his stick.

All positive stuff, seems like a good prospect and pick up. I always like the fact they have been playing against opposition with NHL size and skill, same as in Sweden and Finland. Considering the lack of draft picks these signings make a lot of sense a la Hayes and Vesey.

Who does he replace next season? I'd have to imagine this means the end for someone.

Well even though it would never happen, in a perfect world we'd be shedding all four of Klein, Holden, Staal and Girardi this summer. Girardi we'll have to eat the buyout. Staal we might be able to move if we package him with something. Sign Shatty, re-sign Smith, fill the last two spots either via trade (Stepan, Nash, etc.) or from the free agency (there are some good D options available).

I want a top 4 of Skjei-Mac-Shatty-Smith, and the last two spots there are a ton of options to fill.

Klein and/or Holden IMO. He should be given every opportunity to make the third pairing next to Staal.

Our defense is gonna be different next season; I like it.
    Out: Girardi, Klein, Stepan, Raanta
    In: Shattenkirk, Desharnais, Pavalec, DeAngelo/Bereglazalov/Pionk
