Best game of the series for the Rangers... looks like we're heading seven games (again)

They can close this in six. Go into Montréal and take game five, and game six, if they play like they did tonight, is money in the bank.

Yeah, just saw that again on Twitter. That's brutal. I didn't realize he got his blade up into his back like that.

That should be reviewable with regards to intent to injure and an automatic suspension

Nash has 13 points in his last 13 playoff games, it's almost like if you build a big enough sample size you get the same performance as a regular season or something crazy like that.

If you're constantly evaluating players in 4 game chunks the players will constantly under perform or, over perform their norms.

For 2-3 years? Yes and I'm not blinking an eye.

If he pots 30 again next year, that will be a discount.

That's just kind of how it goes. The playoffs only last 5-10 games per season for most players who even get there, so it's really an evaluation of how you can perform for short periods of time. There's not enough time during a playoff run for you to catch up to your average if you're playing poorly. And it goes the other way too. A player is all of a sudden a "playoff performer" because he had the best 10 game stretch of his career in May instead of in February?

For Nash, to me, it was all about finding another gear. It's about trying to find a way to play your game or adjusting your game when you have much less time and space. I remember before his first playoff series as a Ranger against Washington in 2013, I told Pete that I don't think Nash has an extra gear. And he didn't. He didn't the next postseason as well. But he's slowly caught on to what it takes to succeed in the postseason. Now, it's great that Nash is playing well in games 83 and beyond, seriously great. He is fortunate that he has had so many opportunities to build that sample size.

I think we all knew the Rangers weren't going out without a fight. Can't expect this level of play in the next two games, but I do hope we grind it out and win the series just to see Montreal fans cry

Pretty confident Rangers will win on Thursday. But that's that inevitable letdown at home in Game 6. For years they've had numerous chances to close out series at home in Game 6 and end up with a shitty effort and letting it drag out to a nailbiting Game 7.

Did anyone else see Ott condescendingly brushing something off Zuckies shoulder. Zucc's getting his balls broken pretty bad. Ott, Radulov, and Gallagher are really pushing buttons trying to take us out of game. Blueshirts showing good restraint to not get goated into retaliation penalties. If and when we have this series locked up I think each of those assholes should get cross checked in the fucking teeth.

I wouldn't call 2 goals "scoring at home", but ok. They won because of Hank, and I'm fine with that. After all, he gets paid quite well to do just what he did tonight. The effort was better, but they're too passive on home ice. Rule of thumb is discipline on the road, energy at home, but they seem to confuse the 2. Smith is an UFA, and was on a team going nowhere. Pretty common move under those circumstances.
