I don't get why we are trading Stepan, or why he needs to wake up? The guy is tied for 3rd on the team in points, and is the least of our problems and is on a decent contract. If anything I would move Hayes and move Miller to center. There is no way this team will be able to afford re-signing both Miller and Hayes next summer.

Stepan is such an enigma. I feel like he does next to nothing but the team clearly plays better when he is in the lineup.

Hayes has the same number of points in 5 less games. They are essentially the same player. If anything you trade Step and resign Hayes simply because Hayes is 2 years younger.

Hayes has played well but Miller is a much better player right now.

You do know that Hayes and Miller are going to cost possibly more than Stepan because of what the market is at right now, right? They aren't the same player, Step is used in different situations than Hayes is, and is more cost controlled than Hayes is right now. Your looking at both Hayes and Miller making $5.5-6M a season minimum next summer.

Stats are misleading sometimes,Maybe he needs to wake up cause he hasn't freaking scored a goal since January, besides that he looks like a 37 year old out there most nights.

Your contradicting yourself here. Is it stats are misleading, or he needs to score more goals? Plus, Stepan has never been a goal scorer, he gets most of his points in assists, and has had his line mates juggled throughout the season. I also highly disagree that he looks like a 37 year old out there most nights. He doesnt have the speed, never did, but he has been far from the issue out there.

??? And Step makes $6.5 per. So again, if the choice is between keeping Step or Hayes, go with Hayes because he's younger.

Obviously he's never been a goal scorer , we all know that. But no goals in 22 games, come on,you can't honestly think he's played good or looked good can you?
He's not the biggest issue out there.obviously our D is but isn't Stepan suppose to be our top center?
Maybe it's a down year but it's concerning

Nash, Step, Hayes, Miller, and Zib total $22.275M against the cap. You trade Step and Nash and you have $7.425M each to resign Hayes, Miller, and Zib who a) won't cost that much and b) are 24, 23, and 23. Out with the old in with the young.

This guy gets it. He plays NHL17 Franchise Mode.
    Out: Girardi, Klein, Stepan, Raanta
    In: Shattenkirk, Desharnais, Pavalec, DeAngelo/Bereglazalov/Pionk

You also have a couple of huge holes in your roster.

Trading Nash might be inevitable, but trading Step AND Nash, especially when Nash's contract comes off the books after next year, seems like overkill.

You do realize that Hayes only has 3 goals in that same span too, right? Even if its a down year, he is coming close to was the has produced every year, He has been a 50-60 point player most of his career, and he is close to hitting that mark right now.

Like any other player going through a slump, it gets harder and harder to score.

He's still generating chances and playing the two-way game he always does. His goal scoring is really the last thing this team should be concerned about right now.

You have to trade him, unless he agrees to an extension for a big pay cut. Can't lose him for nothing. And yes you don't have to worry about Nash until next year's deadline, but you also don't need his money to resign Hayes and Miller until next year.

    Kreider - Zib - Buch
    Miller - Hayes - Zucc
Vesey - Lindberg - Fast/Grabner (maybe Vegas takes one maybe we still have both)

I'm ok with that top 9 and that doesn't include any FA signings or what we get in return from the trades. I don't see huge holes.

Well this will likely be his lowest point totals since his rookie campaign.
Hayes has arguably been on the Rangers most consistent line all season and needs 2 points to pass his career high and 2 more goals to pass his career high and Hayes isn't a goal scorer either, right?

I'm saying it's concerning when any of your top players goes 20 something games without a goal, would we be concerned if Nash went 24 games without a goal? We'd be burning him down.
