I wonder what information Trump is sharing with the Russians... given the classified intel, reports, etc that he has access to

Maybe a good recipe for borscht?

Why are people concerned with Russia? They have a smaller economy than Canada. It's basically Mexico with Nukes.

I don't understand, the war mongering candidate lost, remember? This guy seems to be better positioned to get along with Russia.

Want to avoid nuclear armageddon? Probably should avoid authoring another putsch like the West did in Ukraine. That'd be a good start.

World powers have been projecting their authority since the beginning of time... it may be the Americans, Russians, and Chinese now (with apologies to the Indians and Brazilians)... but it was UK, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Greece, Romans, Turks, Ottomans, Japanese, whatever, depending on your era.

Putin can host all the Olympics and World Cups he wants... he's still former KGB, and has led to a lot of pain and misery among his people and neighbors. And he wouldn't be the first bad guy that hosted international sporting events to fraternize with world leaders and legitimize his government.

Putin has the West pegged properly - NATO will stop at economic sanctions, there is no will to risk an armed conflict. So Putin can take what he wants in small pieces. Trump has already said that he may not be willing to militarily back our traditional allies... Trump is going to be awfully busy dismantling anything that Obama put in place, so I doubt Trump cares what Putin does in Europe or Asia.

I hate appeasement... hoping the bully will gain enough and stop. Bullies don't stop unless you bloody their nose - and the Afghans and the Chechens are some of the only recent people that have bloodied the Russians.

The candidate who openly said he's not afraid to use nukes and keep people guessing won, remember?

Come on. You're trying to equate showmanship and bluster to actual actions. I get that it's not very Presidential behaviour, but dangerous? I don't buy it.

I moved some of these posts into the election thread to keep this thread focused on USA/Russia and less on Trump as a President.

Yeah, I'm not sure she's any more credible than anyone else, but my initial research on her hasn't turned much up.

Tensions will be reduced after Putin signs the "agreement" with Puppet changing the former USA into the Russian Federation of North America. Puppet will be a very effective Governor General of the 50 Colonies and will not even have to do stupid stuff like attend Security briefings or live in some old house with no gold plated furniture and can go back to his tower, build crappy buildings, rip off contractors, bankrupt casinos, find new Slovenian escorts for "wives" and get his reality show going again

    Wow. That's some poignant commentary.

We'll have to forget, though, who it was who signed off on the Russian's acquiring US Uranium and who immediately after received some hefty "donations" from Russian oligarchs as well as $500k for a speech. I'm sure that was all above board.

    Obama?

Because from what I have read the Committee on Foreign Investment actually has no veto power(Clinton was 1 of 9 members) and it is up to the President to decide.

Schweizer missed that one in his well researched book

I know your response was partially satire based on sg3's post but there is also history here on the whole Clinton conspiracy theories thing.

Hundreds of similar phishing emails were being sent to American political targets, including an identical email sent on March 19 to Mr. Podesta, chairman of the Clinton campaign. Given how many emails Mr. Podesta received through this personal email account, several aides also had access to it, and one of them noticed the warning email, sending it to a computer technician to make sure it was legitimate before anyone clicked on the “change password” button.

“This is a legitimate email,” Charles Delavan, a Clinton campaign aide, replied to another of Mr. Podesta’s aides, who had noticed the alert. “John needs to change his password immediately.”

With another click, a decade of emails that Mr. Podesta maintained in his Gmail account — a total of about 60,000 — were unlocked for the Russian hackers. Mr. Delavan, in an interview, said that his bad advice was a result of a typo: He knew this was a phishing attack, as the campaign was getting dozens of them. He said he had meant to type that it was an “illegitimate” email, an error that he said has plagued him ever since.
So it appears an aid found the fishing email, sent it to tech support, tech support made a typo and then either the aid or Podesta then followed the tech support instruction.

Sounds like BS to me. A typo would be "an legitimate email".

Who knows? Could have typed "an legitimate" and then accepted a grammar correction not thinking about it. Or maybe he's covering his tracks. The point is, it seems like this wasn't just Podesta getting a spam email and clicking the link, which was what the Salon article is saying happened. It appears that an aid saw the email and then sought clarification.
