I saw a highlight of his shootout goal the other day. Very quick release.

Is there any precedent for guys doing well in Traverse and then playing well with NYR?

With the lack of productive young guys, I can't think of any time that has happened.

Pretty much all of our own developed players were at Traverse if memory serves me right

Lindberg had a good tournament a few years ago, that I remember. Scored a bunch of goals.

Well yea, but I don't remember any of them being as productive as Vesey and then immediately turning that into NHL production.

It doesn't translate all too well. Stepan was the last person to kill the tournament (10ish points maybe?) and make the team if my memory serves me correctly. Killed it with Grachev and such became the hype that Grachev and Stepan would be lethal together.

Lindberg did really well in terms of most recent but didn't make the team anyway.

Stepan was the last player to have a Vesey type performance I believe.

    Hayes
    Duclair
    Miller
    Kreider

I can't remember a player looking as good as Vesey

These guys are also playing against prospects of other teams. The competition pales in comparison to what they will face in the NHL. Training camp will be a better indicator of how these young guys stack up.

Hmm, yea, guess there's nothing really there lol

Stepan is a precedent I guess but one guy does not make a pattern.

Rangers lose final game 6-4, end up in 4th. Goals by Vesey(2) and Day(2)

Vesey is playing against children. At least he's showing he's better than lesser competition. Still nothing to be too excited about yet, IMO.

Agreed, but it's good to see how he is on nhl sized ice. Buch played well too, more excited to see him in training camp as well as pre season.

Um, it's definitely something to get excited about. Maybe not too excited yeah, but the type of game he plays should translate well to the pros.

The team overall is still probably going to suck, but should be at fun watching him and Buch this season. I think Vessey will outscore Pavel by at least 20 points. Buchnevich might be as skilled, but he's way too floaty without the puck.

When hasn't Vesey played on NHL sized ice?

NHL Fluff Piece on who stood out in the tourney, but what ever:

    https://www.nhl.com/news/traverse-ci...?tid=277729154

Cristoval Nieves, C, New York Rangers: Nieves (6-3, 210) did a little bit of everything and was quick and strong in all three zones. He had one goal, three points and six shots in three-plus games. Nieves sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of the third-place game Tuesday and was unable to play the final two periods. He's set to begin his first full season in Hartford (AHL) after spending four seasons at the University of Michigan.
Jimmy Vesey, LW, New York Rangers: Vesey (6-3, 203) led all tournament scorers with five goals and 20 shots, and finished with seven points and a plus-1 rating in four games for the fourth-place Rangers. He has the speed and smarts and wasn't a bit intimidated when pushed to the limit in certain situations. Vesey consistently drove the net, an indication that he will do anything to create a scoring chance in the key areas.

I didn't realize Vesey had grown. He listed as much smaller on Hockey DB.

He was listed at 6'3 203 beginning of last season at Harvard (I'm sure that's what they are going off of). Hockey DB sometimes is slow to update, team sites usually do a better job in camp
