$10 says this guy is out of hockey in within 5 years. Any takers?

However, what is not shown on the rankings provided above is just how much Day’s game has in fact progressed over his third season with the Steelheads. Although his offensive totals have dropped slightly, it is his impeccable defensive game which will be turning heads when he reaches the NHL level.

The one major area which Day has worked on throughout his time in the OHL is his defense, and it has definitely paid off.

In his own zone, Day is seemingly impassable. Combining his elite skating abilities and strength allows Day to match attacking players’ speed, while using his size to force players to the outside. In most cases, a quick, accurate stick knocks the puck off of opponents sticks before they have the opportunity to generate offensive opportunities.

Further, when it comes to board play, Day once again utilizes his power to pin opponents to the boards with ease, before once again using his stick to either knock the puck away, or in numerous cases, strip players of the puck before either making a crisp outlet pass or skating the puck out of his zone.
    That one's quite encouraging.

    The same article says.

As previously mentioned, various hockey scouts and services have been incredibly rough on Day, likely over-exaggerating their findings based on the simple fact that he was granted exceptional status.
And then you had two rankings that were high-ish

Hell no, that's basically free money for you. I'd rather give it to Tanner Glass as a bonus for his extra effort this season.

Big OHL Trade - Sean Day (NYR) moved from the Mississauga Steelheads to the Windsor Spitfires pending approval.

Spitfires are hosting the Memorial Cup this year, aren't they?

After putting up 5 points in 5 games before being traded, Day has gone 1-3-4 in 5 games with the Spitfires.

Hat trick with 10 shots on goal. Scored the only 3 goals for his team in the game.

Sometimes guys just start to "get it" all at once, and if this is true for Day - in terms of maturing and putting in the work - we could see him with the Rangers sooner than later.

Defenseman Sean Day scored a goal and was a plus-3 in Windsor's 7-1 win over Oshawa in the Ontario Hockey League Thursday night.

The 2016 third round pick's 14 goals this season are a career-high, and he has 28 points in 47 games split between Mississauga and Windsor this season.

Not bad... not bad. You would expect someone with his size and abilities to be putting up close to a point per game though. He has been much better as of late though

He's 19, so he can go to the AHL, right?

Yes, but not because he's 19.

The rule is that you're eligible if you're older than 20 or have completed 4 seasons if you're coming from the CHL. Day has done the latter so he's eligible to play next season.

Drury echoed those sentiments. He said while Day has always been known as a great skater, that's only one aspect of his game that he's seen take strides since September's training camp, when the Rangers kept Day around longer than nearly all the prospects who were sent back to junior.

"You can't not watch him and not notice how great of a skater he is, but I think he has a lot other skills besides that," Drury said. "He's a big, strong kid that's really only scratched the surface as far as training. He's got to be one of the strongest players in that League. I think the upside in that department is huge."

While Day did not crack a spot on Team USA's roster for this year's World Junior Championship, Drury said that after talking with people from USA Hockey that he fully expects Day to be a strong contender for a spot for next year's tournament in Buffalo.

"I recently saw some USA Hockey World Junior staff members and they have been hearing the same reports around the hockey world as we have in that he's been making strides and developing into a more well-rounded player and is certainly on their radar for next year's tournament."

Very exciting and surely this is a positive sign?

You don't throw a fringe prospect into the AHL "a year early", so clearly we believe in Day and are pleased with his development.

"Day was granted exceptional status and allowed to play in the OHL when he was 15 years old, becoming the fourth player (at the time) to be granted exceptional status by Hockey Canada (along with John Tavares, Aaron Ekblad, and Connor McDavid)."

What changed since then? Why did he went from being "as good as" three 1st overall picks to be a 3rd rounder?
