    Rangers Sign [F] Jarret Stoll to 1-Year/$800K Contract

    @NYRangers: OFFICIAL: #NYR have agreed to terms with free agent forward Jarret Stoll. http://t.co/YXuZLJNJmY

    @DarrenDreger: Stoll is a New York Ranger.
    @DarrenDreger: 1 year contract for Stoll with NYR.

    @mirtle: With his off-ice legal issues, Stoll comes cheap at under $1-million for one year. Could end up being good redemption story.

    @reporterchris: Jarret Stoll's one-year deal with #NYR pays him $800,000.

    @BrettCyrgalis: Stoll's #NYR deal is $800,000. No special stipulations, standard player contract. No legal issues going forward.

    Probably one-way considering he is a veteran. He has no reason to sign a two-way deal with significantly less pay at the AHL level.

    Eh... I file this under the Malone category of if it works, great - if not, sent back to rehab.

    Malone was on a tryout then was offered a contract. When he was sent down, instead of playing in the AHL he decided to terminate the contract. I'm imagining this is a one-way deal and he and Moore will battle for the 3rd line center role with Hayes shifting to wing.

    All jokes aside, he'll bring sup energy to the lineup and has a nose for the net.

    Didn't mean in terms of contract, rather was addressing our low risk/high reward relationship with second chance players. I'd imagine it wouldn't be hard to waive Stoll.

    I like this signing because he gives us depth at center where either Moore or Hayes can shift to wing. It certainly hurts Lindberg's chances of making the NHL roster, so he may be more of trade bait at the deadline than anything. I wouldn't mind moving Hayes to wing as Stoll is solid on faceoffs (51% last year). Gives us a guy who has won a cup before and gives us another defensive utility guy.

    After losing MSL, I'm certain that was a major factor - above all else, even.

    If his contract is $900K or less, he can be waived and assigned to the AHL without the Rangers seeing a dime hit their cap.

    Right, so there it is. No reason to shy away from Stoll given these parameters.
