how many well paid rangers have ntc? given the lack of depth in the free agent market this might be the perfect year to move the right high priced player to get something reasonable back in return.

    All right here. http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/20

Basically Nash, Brassard, Zucarello (year one only), Moore, Girardi, McDonagh (starting after this season), Boyle and Lundqvist.

Hmm. Would you swap him for Nash? no sure it's possible but just a thought. He seems to be the odd man out in Pitt (ala Jagr)

Not sure really. I like Malkin, and I'm not a huge fan of Nash, but I don't think adding Malkin will help. We have Step, Brass and Hayes, and even if we move Hayes to the wing, I don't see Brass/Step play 3C. Unless we swap Step/Brass for an upgrade, I don't see adding a Center will help this team.

I'm all for trading Nash, but if we do, I want to get a wing in return.

If Pittsburgh would do it, which I'm sure they wouldn't, Sather would do it in a heartbeat. Malkin is a truck, and is a force in the playoffs. I highly doubt Pittsburgh would ever entertain moving Malkin for Nash though.

    Eh. You know what?

The more I think of it, Pittsburgh may be slightly interested. Picks up a good 2-way winger who is a big goal scorer. Less money and years on the contract than Malkin. They are looking to sell the franchise, per reports.

It'll never happen, but it's a nice fantasy.

What more then Nash would it take? Nash + Klein? I'm not really into who's worth what etc when it comes to trades. But I would assume Pit would be looking for someone to strength their D, and he has a contract Pit could take aswell.

Will probably take Nash, someone like Kredier/Zuccarello and a decent prospect

I'd give them Nash + one of Klein/Boyle/Yandle for Malkin in a heartbeat. They could use the help on defense.

I'm assuming we'd be the one who has to take cap back in return? I'm not sure, but does Nash + one of them become more than what Malkin is making by himself?

Why would Pittsburgh trade a top-5 scorer in the league for Nash and a serviceable defenseman? Malkin has the second highest points/game scoring rate amongst active NHL players.
