    To you, maybe.

All I'm illustrating is that this notion that it's far-fetched for either of these men to play this type of role successfully isn't actually true, because they've both played them to varying degrees of success in the past.

He and Brad Pitt, together again. Instant classic.

Yeah, that would be sick. Fight Club was such a great movie.

Did Ed Norton get blacklisted or something? He's not in anything anymore

Thought he was great in "In Bruges" too.

Loved that movie. Still, I have a hard time taking him seriously as an actor. I can't think of a single movie with Farrell that stands out as an excellent performance. Vaughn I think is more qualified. Either way I'm excited to see the direction of this season, especially since we were lead to believe that a female detective were to be cast.

Guess there's a first time for everything. I will definitely be giving it a chance (him in the role I mean)

Ed Norton is a bit of an ego-maniac and likes to take over projects as much as possible (see the Hulk), so I don't think he'd ever work in a show like this.

He only did that because he's a huge Hulk fan and didn't agree with the director's vision, IIRC.

That is true, but he's definitely a look over your shoulder type of guy from everything I've read. I think the way this show is produced, they are sticking to actors who just immerse themselves in their characters and commit. Norton does that, but he seems to do it with his own input. I would imagine it's hard to write with the intricate detail that True Detective has when you aren't sure if someone is going to play a character the way you are envisioning it.

I'll give them all a chance. I think Farell is a pretty good actor, but what would most people have said about McConaughey's qualifications going into the first one if it had this kind of hype?

The same things people said of Ledgers' going into Batman Begins. "He's a chick flick loser!"

I just actually started watching my first episode of this show this weekend and I admit I'm sort of hooked. The only problem is that I'm a year behind and I don't have slightest clue on what is going on.

I plan on going back to season 1 and watching, but can someone give me a brief synopsis of the series and what its about?

There is only one season of it, Scags. Just watch it, dude. You'll fall head-over-heels.
