It might, but I think it would suffer from a fan perspective. I could see a lot of people turning their nose up in not being given something new creatively, instead being given the same car with a different paint color, ya know?

Well, I thought the creator said that it will involve occult happenings in the transportation system or something like that? I'm interested. Chastain played a good character in Zero Dark Thirty. Gotta see what the supporting cast is, as well, and see if they go the buddy cop route.

I thought she was great in Zero Dark Thirty. I hope she's one of the lead roles for season 2.

    Hold the phone.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Jessica Chastain is not joining the Season Two cast of True Detective. One day after Nerdist reported that she'd been offered a lead part on the show, reps for the Oscar-nominated actress confirmed to E! that Chastain won't be featured on the acclaimed HBO series. HBO has also denied the reports.

    I fuckin hate the Nerdist.

Jim, if it's a female lead, who would you pick?

Jessica Chastain’s Not Doing ‘True Detective’ // Brad Pitt at "Top of the List"

Jessica Chastain is sorry about the minor Internet frenzy started when word got out that she’d been approached to star in the second season of “True Detective.”

As it turns out, she’s not doing it. Chastain shot down the news, first reported in an exclusive by the Nerdist, at the Cannes Cinema Against Aids benefit for amFAR.

“It’s such an awkward thing,” Chastain said. “That news broke yesterday and it went crazy on the Internet. There was so much of an explosion. Also it’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens, it takes away from whoever plays the role. I love Woody Harrelson, and I’m gonna watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first. But I won’t be on it.”

Also, Brad Pitt is still a possibility, and apparently at the "top of the list" of desirable actors.

According to the Daily Star UK, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt could be the star of "True Detective" Season 2. The report suggests that the actor is "close to signing a deal" to star as the main cast member.

Brad Pitt is reportedly "thrashing out last minute details of a deal" with HBO. "12 Years a Slave" actor has already given the "green light" to the new project.

Oh, and this. Colin Farrell confirmed that he will be in Season 2.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainm...-30603183.html

Speaking to The Sunday World, the 38-year-old star said, “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited.”

"I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five moths to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids."

Go back and check out his roles in Domestic Violence and The Cell especially.

If you can accept him in something as dark as that, I don't see how you can't in something like True Detective.

I'm on Board with Vaughn. Not a big Ferrel guy but this might be the perfect role for him.

Ferrall nailed the dirty cop role in Pride and Glory with Edward Norton, so I'm not too worried there if he's going to be playing a similar role. He actually kinda looks like a bit of a slime ball, so it may be right up his alley.

Oh, Ed Norton. I'd love to see him in this series one of these years.
