Yeah, I saw that one before, just wasn't sure if it was actually worth it. Figured I'd post to see if anyone had a better idea.

Never used it, but I'd imagine if the thing works as it says, it's definately worth the $21. I doubt you'll find a new one cheaper.

That was actually my worry. Because I couldn't find any Canon produced products, I had a feeling all the other options would be "cheap".

Opteka's stuff is decent, Phil...I have a few things by them.

Not a remote though...but the stuff I do have has held up over two years now.

Downside is it's expensive and the cord is pretty short. I'll keep looking.

He also said long cord, but I still fail on both accounts

    Photography: DSLR Cameras

Im thinking about taking up photography as a hobby. Any suggestions for beginner/semi-pro DSLR Camera?

I'd prefer something with a stock lens, low noise, and solid HD video for under $700. I've been looking at the Nikon D5100. If anybody knows photography, I'd appreciate some suggestions before I go out and get something I regret. Thanks.

I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XS last year. It doesn't have video, but I love it. Its my first real camera. Takes great shots and i'm planning on getting some lens filters and a new lens. You'll find help here though, there are a lot of photographers on the board!

+1. Dpreview is the most thorough Camera Review site I've ever seen.

I've been a Sony digital camera user for a long time. I just recently bought the SLT-A35 and I'm liking it a lot. It runs at $700 with a kit lense.

Is there a significant difference between the Canon EOS Rebel T3i, Nikon D5100, and the Sony SLT-A35? I like them all. I just dont know which one is right for me. I do want to go and feel them out, thats for sure. Another thing Im curious about is the lenses, but I dont even know where to begin with the questions on them. I dont know if Im looking into this too deeply but one thing is for sure, I dont want to purchase something that Im going to grow out of too quickly. Im willing to spend the extra money on something that is good to start with but also has advanced capabilities.

Dont buy a Sony thats all I'll say...all their shit is proprietary. And not much third party things are made for them. Waste of money. Stick with Canon and Nikon.

Like others said, the lower end Canon Rebel Series cameras are good for beginners.
