Rangers Trade Horak & 2nd Round Picks for Tim Erixon & 5th Round Pick

@TSNBobMcKenzie: NYR believed to be hot and heavy in talks with CGY to get Erixon. Tim's dad, Jan, play for NYR. Tim was born in Port Chester, NY. Stay tuned

For those of you clueless to the name:

    http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/...layer.cgi?7646

    Age: 20
Date of birth: February 24, 1991
Place of birth: Port Chester, NY, USA

    Ht: 6-2 Wt: 200
    Shoots: L

ASSETS: Has a projectable frame, very good instincts for the game and solid bloodlines. Displays all-around upside and the ability to log a ton of minutes. Is relatively low-maintenance.

FLAWS: Needs to fill out his frame and gain strength to better handle NHL forwards. Also must play with more of an edge to his game in order to maximize his potential.

    CAREER POTENTIAL: Potential big-minute defenseman.

Probably a conditional pick. Someone mentione yesterday that he's eligible to re-enter the draft, with time to sign with CGY running out.

Well, Calgary only has a couple more hours to sign him or they lose his rights and he may re-enter the draft. Think Calgary would get a late 2nd round compensary pick if he does that, so they'll probably listen to anything better than that.
We go right to the top shelf with our words now... 'Dude, it was amazing!' Really? You were amazed? You were amazed by a basket of chicken wings? Really? What are you going to do with the rest of your life now? What if something really happens to you? What if Jesus comes down from the sky and makes love to you all night long, and leaves the new living Lord in your belly? What are you gonna call that? You used 'amazing' on a basket of chicken wings! - Louis CK

Calgary would get a compensatory 2nd round pick if they let him re-enter the draft, which would equate the 53rd overall. No reason we can't offer them our own 2nd (45th).

Right and they've got to feel like they owe us something for the Kotalik trade .

We gave them Jokinen right back. What are they crying about? They weren't even using Prust!

This would be a fantastic pickup. Erixon has a ton of potential.

What's really funny is that Hockeys Future has him listed as Calgary's top prospect and Calgary's prospect pool as listed at 30th in the NHL. They missed the playoffs the past two seasons, but weren't bad enough to get a top pick. Now they're about to lose their best prospect.

They're attempting to become the Rangers of the late 90's/early 00's.

They're worse. Look at their draft history - they've had like 5 picks work out in the last 20 years.

Damn Phil, beat me to it cuz my computer froze. Although I did mention this yesterday in the Del Zotto thread. Let me just say, please fucking let this happen. Guy is literally Calgary's top prospect and is going to be an excellent NHLer. Could likely play in the NHL this season.

At WJC he was the top defender in the entire tournament. He is very good in both ends, has an elite outlet pass, great skater, more physical than expected, and very underrated vision and offense. He can QB our 2nd PP unit for years to come. It would have been worth it to me to give up DZ + for this guy but these circumstances should allow us to get a bargain. I have a feeling other teams are scared off by his refusal to sign in Calgary and his father has to be pushing the Rangers. We just acquired his cousin in a deal not two weeks ago.
